SR5 Mega Prime!
On 18 October 2014, 6:18:40 UTC, PrimeGrid’s Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 Problem project eliminated k=109208 by finding the mega prime: 109208*5^1816285+1 (http://primes.utm.edu/primes/page.php?id=118643) The prime is 1,269,534 digits long and enters Chris Caldwell's The Largest Known Primes Database (http://primes.utm.edu/primes) ranked 59th overall. This is the largest known base 5 mega prime. 37 k's now remain in the Sierpinski Base 5 Problem. The discovery was made by Scott Brown (Scott Brown (http://www.primegrid.com/show_user.php?userid=1178)) of the United States using an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz with 8GB RAM running Windows 7 Enterprise. This computer took about 11 hours and 3 minutes to complete the primality test using LLR. Scott is a member of the Duke University (http://www.primegrid.com/team_display.php?teamid=154) team. The prime was verified on 21 October 2014, 6:19:48 UTC, by Tod Slakans (NeoMetal* (http://www.primegrid.com/show_user.php?userid=92179)) of the United States using an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz with 8GB RAM running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.
