Unlike other challenges, you don't get a trophy just for participating -- you have to actually find primes to win something! As with last year, we will be awarding special "jersey badges" to the winners in four different categories. This year, we're also offering special badges that are available to anyone who finds an eligible prime!Come join us in February. More information about Tour de Primes can be found here (http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=7805).

Scott Brown is back as sole possessor of the yellow jersey, after he had to share it with Vaughan earlier today.
Vaughan still leads comfortably in the rankings for the red jersey, having scored a prime worth 10 times more tahn number two.
That high score also proved vital in the rankings for the green jersey, where Vaughan is also #1 due to the score of his two found primes so far.

He sure is! The green and red jersey are his at the moment and he is still in 2nd place for the yellow jersey, already having found four primes in five days.

I'm starting to struggle having dropped to 3rd place now. Considering firing up some Amazon servers :)

dthonon is doing a bid for the yellow jersey it seems. You still lead in the red and green jersey rankings though.

Vaughan now at 4th place for the yellow jersey, but still in the lead for both red and green.

By now dthonon has 18 primes and due to sheer power of numbers has passed Vaughan in points for the green jersey. Vaughan still leads for the red jersey, having found the biggest prime of the TdP2018.

It is a hard battle, I have deployed 2 AWS instances :
GenuineIntel
Intel(R) Xeon(R) Platinum 8124M CPU @ 3.00GHz [Family 6 Model 85 Stepping 3]
(16 processors)

All up I have in the vicinity of 350 CPU cores (not hyperthreads) running. Plus numerous GPUs but limited by my strongest being a GTX1070ti.

Vaughan lost his red jersey (but is still in 2nd place in the red rankings) to Robish, who also took over the green jersey from dthonon thanbks to a truly massive prime. Vaughan is now in 3rd place for the green jersey.
dthonon still leads in the yellow jersey rankings, having found 21 primes during the TdP2018. Vaughan is 4th for yellow.

Wow, that's just a massive number of cores, but then the others at the top are also running tremendous firepower. But irregardless of whether or not you win Vaughan you've made a very impressive run so far during the first half of the challenge! Congratulations on your prime finds!!! :-)

350, I'm staggered. Have you got a small power station at the bottom of the garden?

My 22 solar PV panels help cover about 12 percent of my daily power usage.

We added 12 8 core Xeon cpus from AWS last night and removed the higher core machines as stupid BOINC was not using them efficiently, it just doesn’t scale up to 100 perecent cpu usage. Don’t understand why. They were running the same app_config.xml script as the 8 core Xeon but only showed 70% usage under Linux.

Increased it to 36 AWS C5.2xlarge 8 core Xeon instances for the Mountain Stage.

Darn it, I dropped to 4th. The Amazon account is nearly $700 this month but only a few days remain so should come in under the 1000 mark.
Yesterday I had everything running again but the strain on the air cond was showing as it struggled to cope. Outside temp yesterday was mid 30s so that didn't help.
Much better today with low 20s forecast and light rain. I cleaned the dust filters on the a/c the other day so I'm annoyed it couldn't cope.

Fortunately after the re-wiring and brand new mains distribution board we installed with the solar panel upgrade we didn't have any power circuits drop out.
