50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing Challenge starts July 15th 20:17 UTC
"Thirty seconds and counting. Astronauts report it feels good. T-25 seconds. Twenty seconds and counting. T-15 seconds, guidance is internal. 12, 11, 10, 9 ... ignition sequence start ... 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 ... All engines running. Liftoff! We have a liftoff ... 32 minutes past the hour, liftoff on Apollo 11!"To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of humans landing on the Moon, PrimeGrid is running a 5 day challenge from July 15th 2019, 20:17 UTC until July 20th, 20:17 UTC. Work units from the PPS (LLR) project, which are downloaded and completed during the challenge will count towards your challenge score. Many primes are expected to be found. For more information and discussion, please see the official challenge thread: http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8635

7 of us in the individuals list so far, and all in the top 300. Vaughan creeping steadily up towards the top too, currently at position 3. :)

8 now, and Vaughan at 2. (http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/2019_4/top_users.html)
Windows 10 trashed the Radeon drivers of my appointed box (running a PPS sieve WU for over two days) as well as my printer -made :cussing::5censored::qleft7:OneNote the default printer.
Can the guys at Redmond keep AWAY from user settings they have no idea about of actual use?

I'm sure we can get to Team rank 7th.
I've put 24 instances of AWS Intel Xeon Platinum 8124M @ 3.0GHz on it also.
My new Ryzen 9 3900X is doing OK with its Noctua NH-D15S CPU cooler installed. I need to add a couple more case fans as it is getting warm inside the case itself.
AMD's Ryzen Master software shows the CPU temp at 95C.
Update:
Added 4x 140mm Noctua case fans and now the CPU temp is displayed as 87C in Ryzen Master.

You don't feel the need for a push-push/pull-pull installation (two added 150mm fans attached to the Noctua NH-D15S, the original middle as push/pull)?

9 now (http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/2019_4/top_users.html), six of which are in the top-300. Vaughan firmly on #2, team (http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/2019_4/top_teams.html) in pursuit of Crunching@EVGA

AMD's Ryzen Master software shows the CPU temp at 95C.
My Ryzen 7 1700 has the temps at 67.50 °C (stock-cooler, open case)

Alright then I accept the challenge. I noticed that EXT64 from team [H]ard|OCP has been gaining so I added extra AWS instances. Got 52 of them now :)

You should invest in a Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX system for all the money Amazon charges. AND water cooling.

Hmm an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX is $2639 at PCCasegear. Plus the water cooler and motherboard and tons of RAM sticks wouldn't be cheap. And its TDP is 250W so lots of heat to remove with the a/c.
So far for this PrimeGrid challenge (3.5 days) my 30 AWS instances have cost AUD175. For the remaining 1.5 days I've added 22 more so I guess the final cost will be about $500. Last PG challenge cost me USD1000.

The 2990WX is 1800 Euro's over here -out of my reach. I hope to be able to afford myself the Ryzen 9 3950X someday...

eh, just get a bunch of cheap 8cores! (and maybe split a super powerful PSU) i got my 1700X for $150 last black friday/cyber monday. and a 1950X for $450 (and later, my first bid on an X399 board actually won... $183 or so)
it's also easier to manage the heat with lower TDP chips (the $25 FSP Windale 4 is surprisingly good!). the Noctua site lead me to believe a U12S would be fine for the 1950X but totally is not

The 1950X -being 16 cores, 32 threads by the way- should in my eyes be cooled by a Noctua with triple 140 mm fans -IF you are considering air cooling a 180 Watt TDP CPU at all. The Windale 4 is not yet for sale in the EU, AFAIK.
Over here they (Threadripper 1950X's) are 488 Euro's (including VAT), so marginally 'within' my reach. I'd rather buy a Ryzen 7 3700X though: 65 Watt TDP, and already 140 euro's cheaper than the 16-core Threadripper at 345 Euro (about the price of a 12-core Threadripper 1920 actually). The older Ryzen 7 2700 has in the meantime dropped below 200 Euro's, and is only marginally more expensive than my Ryzen 7 1700 now.
But the first CPU I have set my sights on is an APU: the Ryzen 5 2400G -by now for a mere 120 Euro's..

Exiting till the end - the battle for places 11-13 must have been something really special.

We ended at #8, just behind Crunching@EVGA. If it would have been one more day, we would have passed them...

You are sure you had the NH-U12S TR4-SP3 (https://noctua.at/en/nh-u12s-tr4-sp3), a dedicated version for the AMD TR4/SP3 socket?
Note that there even is a NH-U9 TR4-SP3 (https://noctua.at/en/products/cpu-cooler-retail/nh-u9-tr4-sp3) - but perhaps more aimed at the EPYC server SOCs, with their lower TDP than the Threadrippers.
And there is of course the NH-U14S TR4-SP3 (https://noctua.at/en/products/cpu-cooler-retail/nh-u14s-tr4-sp3), but all three are single radiator and only the 92mm model has double fans.
One would expect a NH-U15S TR4(-SP3?) with double radiator and double fans, with option to place a third, when one takes in mind the TDP of the Threadripper 2990WX (250 Watt) (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Zen/AMD-Ryzen%20Threadripper%202990WX.html)
These (https://www.amd.com/en/thermal-solutions-threadripper) are AMD's recommendations. Note that only the NH-U14S TR4-SP3 gets mentioned for the Threadrippers.
