Sztaki project

It's good to have a fresh project once in a while, it's where everyone starts up relatively low and the competition fires up again. And this is just the case, with this recent new hungarian BOINC project SZTAKI. :)

Believe me, you don't need to know a word of hungarian to join in and start crunching. If you saw a couple of classic boinc sites, you know how easy it is to navigate on them, be it in english, hungarian, or japanese for that matter. :P
(tip: hover the mouse on the links to check out where they point to. Altough everything is hungarian, the boinc structure is english ;))

This project is much like lattice I guess. It's a grid project that will be able to be used for several different applications. Right now it is making some computation on generalized binary number systems...

And... last but not least... We're in the top 10! :D

It is an easy project to add for current BOINC users. Work units take about 40mins and are steadably available also the stats are very effiecient frequently updating - so try it.

It's up again, but not working 100%. It seems they had a nasty hardware failure, and are recovering from it.

Due to a hardware failure the user informations of SZTAKI Desktop Grid has been lost.
We kindly ask the users to register again and connect to the project once more. We apologise for the inconvinience.

Serious hardware failure they had there, I guess...

Right now, account creation seems to be disabled. I'll keep checking back and will post when I see it enabled again.

To make this coding eaiser for those with Firefox, I recommend BBCode. It's an extension that has buttons to immediately create the codes in both BBCode and XHTML Code.

After re-joining on the site, did you detach on boinc and reattached with the new login? I did like that and got half a dozen workunits right at start.

edit - how long does it take for the whole amount to re-appear, my name is now back on the stats but as a new user. should it not have tied my up with my old account.

If you don't get your credits back in the next few days you should email the admin to sort it out, like it says on their front page.

And I see we got ourselves a hungarian member over at SZTAKI... maybe he/she could help us understand it a bit better... especially with a few bits of translations :P

No, I've used Boinc before... I just don't like it... But it's ok so far. Boinc just pisses me off cause they run out of work so much. I hate coming home after work and finding out that the project ran out of work, and my computer sat idle for 6 or 7 hours when it could have been more productive on something else.

But I'll let it run for a while and see how it goes.....

Just attach to two more mainstream projects besides sztaki and you'll never have lack of work. :)

You mean the latest stable release v4.45 right?
If it's that one I'd say you are well served. :) I was afraid you could be using one of the dev versions that are out there, some have known bad problems and that could make you like boinc even less. :P

I have no problems to report as of yet. Sztaki is working without problems so far. I haven't even ran it for 24 hours yet and i'm almost in 4th place on the team.....
