Who cares? I would be more worried of it being a Gateway then I would worry wether or not it was AMD vs Intel. :agrue:

how do you like it?

Put it running something and tell us how it behaves :)

And I also prefer to build my own machines from parts instead of buying a pre-built one. I like to be sure that each part my pc was picked by me, and I know how much I can expect of it.

But if you got it right there, right now, and you're running with it... WHO CARES???? :D

I just got it up.... Once Monique gets off her laptop, I'll get it online... It's using the spare adapter right now...

Nice one Beerknurd. You can proudly state you have the first dual core computer in our team.

Now we need to see how it performs under load.

Does the BTX system do what its says in the Gateway advert - keeps the system cooler?

Where did ya steal the money for that

If I get a DC ( dual core....geddit  ) it'll be an AMD.

But not until I've paid off my mortgage. It'll be a quad core by then.

It's basically like having two 2.8Ghz Intel Pentium 4 processors in one machine. It's pretty sweet. I highly recommend you get one. I'll test it out on more projects soon. I have run SOB, that topped out at about 4.3M with the dually. You can look at the Sztaki stats in a few days and see how much more i'm doing. I can do about 5200 in Ubero with all my PC's going. Does anyone else have a project they wanna see the output on?? Any requests???

Preferably something I can run more than one instance of. On an Intel Dually, the cores can't talk to each other, so they process seperate. The AMD cores can talk to each other, therefore making a 2.4GHz AMD Dually a 4.8GHz machine. At least that's what I got from the research. So basically the Intel is better at actually multitasking. The AMD is more power related. So the AMD would probably have been a better choice. But they didn't have any. So I bought the Intel. Plus my wife let me buy it, so I didn't wanna wait for an AMD. I didn't want her to change her mind.

I would like to see that on chessbrain running a huge load of instances... :P But chessbrain is down right now... :-(

How about the Dnet projects? I think their clients support multiprocessor... can you give it a spin? :)

Will do. It will probably be tomorrow. I wanna see how much Sztaki I can do in one day. I have already outproduced yesterdays score and it's only 7:30pm. I will test DNET this weekend.

i hope you are saving fro the electric bill that will be coming. those intel like to eat electricity. the good news is that you just got a free space heater with your processor.
