was at the supplier today when they received their X2 3800s...@ $450 CDN i just couldn't resist. suprised to find it is a Toledo core, most of what i have read say Manchester ..but CPU-Z v 1.28.6 reports it as Toledo, havn't done much testing yet. will get to some testing over the weekend. Sandra reports Dhrystone/Whetstone 16897/6306/8620, Vience same setup 8375/3144/4098 ...A8N-E

not bad bang for the $

Nice - what DC project(s) are you going to try on it?

any chance you can run the cpu tests from 3D mark on it?

i think 2003 and 2005 are both still downloadable from here

As to what DC projects on this machine I havn't decided yet but i will.

3D mark test

these results are with no overclocking,
Asus 5950 Vid card 3D mark 3 -5114 with a ledtek 6600 GT -7046

i plan on overclocking it with any luck tonight and will use coolbits to push both cards to see the results last night just a quick and dirty o/c had it running at 2.4 - 1.425v ram pushed to 2.9 to maintain the timings at 2-3-2-6, that would make me think 2.5-2.6 are possible on air cooling using the 7700 copper Zalman temp has not been over 43* underload in a thermaltake Viking case. using an enermax 465w ps.

after updating my CPU-Z it is reported as a Manchester core.

not the right place..but i seem to be having issues logging into the fourm using FireFox, I have looked for the problem cookies etc. but still no luck, IE has no problem logging in, any suggestions??

and thanks

for an entry level chip in the dual core market this thing ROCKS!!

ledteck coolbits auto settings 565/115 score 7153 ..now i have to go out and cut some grass, the non medicinal kind ;)

sounds great. - should be a good gaming place anyway.

which firefox version are you using? is it fully updated? and have you downloaded flash and java etc within it?

fully updated java and flash etc...going to try a re install see if that helps..:) thanks....

o/c 2.4 ended up stable and maintianed the tight timings of the ram with the 6600gt installed final score 7410 3dmark3. vid card clocked to 571, that pretty much sums it up..i am sure with better alternative cooling speeds of 2.5 or better could be achieved, however with the overall performance of it...i am just going to leave well enough alone.

enjoy hope this helps some out..

I realize this thread isn't exactly new, but I have to agree. If DC is your thing, then a 3800+ X2 is definately the best bang for the buck. And they OC like mad! :D

It depends on what memory I'm using. I've been using some CH-based UTT (early Mushkin Blue line) for many months now and at 280x10 with the 180 divider its running at 255MHz 2-2-2-5. BUT... I just got a 1gig set of OCZ PC4800 Platinum Elite (TCCD) and its at 311MHz @ 2.5-4-4-8. I've got some tweaking to do, I'm hoping to get that down to 2.5-3-3.
