We're already in practically all those projects.
Only BIFI seems to be down, and Crash Collection and Resource Management don't work with stats. (Stats always at zero)

And for rumoured ones we could also add Dimes (remember their last status report?)

I've haven't heard about 5 of em. Where did you heard the rest? I've found out the ones I dunno on the orbit@home forums.

Crash Collection is only collecting minidumps so theres no credits. And Resource Management is currently down [sent account key, but won't accept in client].

Wasn't aware DIMES may have a boinc client. But I'll put it in.

I picked them up here and there. I am registered in a few other team's forums (but only crunch for AMD Users! :)) so that I can come by once in a while and check out their news too.

Dimes hasn't got a boinc client yet, but in their forums, the admins posted a project progress report saying in the last line "Boinc integration phase 1"... so I guess soon we'll be able to run Dimes on boinc too.

NOTE: Skipped Japanese ones, been said to use non-standard client

True for the non-standard clients, and we're there too. I, not knowing anything of japanese, adventured myself into that project and am currently representing our team there. :)

Here I am (http://www.cellcomputing.net/simple/reference/member/member.php?id=1870)

Here is our team (http://www.cellcomputing.net/simple/reference/team/team.php?id=138) - ranked 138

Hey gamer, the Lattice project is not soon-to-be. It's already working.
Actualy, it has worked and now is taking a break (no work), like so many others.
Your link isn't pointing to the project site, here's the real link
http://lattice.umiacs.umd.edu/boinc_public/

gamer007

Thanks for the update NeoGen. I chose the link because there was a BOINC tab in the site. Apparantly they haven't updated it yet.

Gamer... what say you about some lattice workunits? :D
I picked this up at their forums. It was posted yesterday!

Hi all,

First, let me say that this project has certainly -NOT- been abandoned. In fact, it is looking increasingly likely that the Lattice Project will be the basis for a campus-wide Grid computing system at the University of Maryland. These kinds of systems have traditionally used trusted University resources like clusters and so forth for the bulk of computations. I think less people are aware of the success of our BOINC testing, and they are also unaware of the vast amount of work that can be done by hordes of faithful crunchers. We have a big demo of our system coming up, and I am going to make a point of highlighting the success of our alpha test. These presentation materials will be made available on the Lattice website in short order. In the next few days, I will be pumping some work into the pool to wake up some clients and ensure that we have some ready for the demo so that the University bigwigs and Information Technology folks can see how all of this works in real time. These jobs will be short test jobs, and will probably be a mix of applications. In addition, with the new school year approaching, it is likely that our researchers will have more work for the system. We'll have to see how it goes, but the point of this message is that the Lattice Project is really just getting started. Thanks to everyone for your continued support in the coming months and I promise to keep a closer eye on the boards ;)

Adam

What say You?(Like in the Lord of the Rings )

They must have lost the dns name somehow... but we can access the forums through the old link
http://message.boincstats.com/orig/forum_index.php

EDIT: It's funny... it was working not too long ago, but now I can't access it either...

If anyone has got linux and wants to try Orbit@home, now you can!

September 9, 2005
First application now available, for the i686-pc-linux-gnu platform only. We are generating WUs, and of course we are noticing a lot of problems, as expected. Please report any problem, using the forums.

Looks like the old Message@Home url still works (up on main post). Take a look @ this that I found on forums. Posted by Rytis, the project admin.

HI !

I can download WU's ,but the ready WU's not uploading .

Some WUs were issued with the return server of primegrid.com instead of message.boincstats.com. I guess you will have to wait for that name to return. It should not take too long, as I already own the name, just can't get it to point to my server. I have submitted a support request for that and I'm waiting for the response.

Oh well plenty of other projects worthy.

I just tried reattaching to the old url and it worked... but it's impossible for me to crunch anything because the download of the application always fails, and in the downloads link that rytis provides, the most recent version of the application is missing

Yea, that's just my problem too...

NeoGen

I got it working now :!:

After you attach to the project again, the files that boinc is requesting have to be downloaded manually from http://message.boincstats.com/download and put on the message@home folder in boinc.
Attention only to the ".manifest" file that somehow for me with IE it always changed the extension to ".xml" and boinc wouldn't accept it until I noticed and corrected the extension myself.
After that boinc skips all files from downloading and starts working directly on it.
I'm crunching as we speak :)

EDIT: AquaJoe, try to register again. After all the problems that message@home has been having, I wouldn't be surprised if the records of past account applicants had been erased somehow.

Gamer... you can scratch orsa@work from the list... check this thread here on their forums...
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1284282&forum_id=145608

orsa@work became orbit@home

I wondered why they both had the same objectives and only orbit was "alive"...

Can you run BOINC as a service????????

gamer007
09-16-2005, 01:41 AM
Beer! Where have you been? You haven't been the Post Whore we know posting everywhere. ;)

Yes, you can run it as a service. In some of the newer BOINC version installers, you can choose "Service" install. I can't confirm if it really works well as I have never tried it.

gamer, FAH@home has made many times on it's forum that they aren't chasing FAH for BOINC anytime soon. They've been to busy adding the SMP, GPU and PS3 clients and that's it for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

Possibly a retired project?

I put it under unknown status for that reason. :) I remember a few years ago they wanted to put it on BOINC, and their BOINC website was working (it still works, but its a blank page with "OK" on it). Guess they scrapped it. :(

And thanks Nflight. :)
