Hello both old and newer and further crunching members.

I will introduce SMART, a simple idea from our dear member AMDave from Down under. He has allowed me to use his own words. However, I found that I must shorten his article because of the length. I hope all will be kind enough to accept this. Thanks AMDave :!:

What is SMART? Yes, SMART is when you have at least 2 computers, use one of these to put it in a dedicated project or a project who need more power to for ex. keeping our rank from to be overtaken, or for use more power to improve our rank. This means for a shorter or a little longer time. SMART can also been used for a new project I believe. This idea is so simple and perhaps easy to accept. I hope you who read this will post a message and tell the forum if you have any options.

The following article is from our AMDave:

I’d like to introduce another enhancing strategy.

We are still working on too many fronts at the same time. I think there may be a way that we can channel some of our power a little better to knock them over faster. For those of us with multiple machines, how would you feel about dedicating just 1 machine? (Yep, only one.) This leaves all the rest of your fire power to do what you want. And at the same time, the Team Project goals will also be getting done.

If you are like me and want to throw more at it then ABSOLUTELY PLEASE DO!

My suggestion requires only 1 CPU be allocated to the current top SMART Target, or the next one down if you can’t run this project (i.e. Windows only project on a Linux machine OR Broadband needed and you have a modem)

I think this will really drive our Goals strategy forward :)
I realise this will take some time to collect options and responses.

Well, that’s my idea. Got an option? Write to this forum thanks.

Hello

I didn´t know we only can vote on time. This wasn´t what i though. If you vote but want to vote again please post a message instead for ex. if you can put a CPU to a SMART project.

Hello again

I will say, I can add one of my CPU´s to SMART :!:

It's a nice idea, but I only run my one machine here... I might put it to the SMART program sometimes if we start it, but not all the times...

Yes, I have an extra machine. I can put toward the SMART project. :D

We need a SMART Target list to show what is the most important target, and the goal for each target.

As AMD users what is all our main goal? To be in the top 20 of all projects? or the top five?

Well if one was going to be smart, then one should know what is required to be smart, and since I have no idea what smart projects are it is rather hard to dedicate a system to it. How-some-ever, if a certain person were to tell us what is smart, then I'm pretty darned sure that I could dedicate a system to the favored effort. :)

I propose our SMART project to be BOINC Predictor because our rank is quite low there compared to some of the other BOINC projects.

Predictor has alot of activity, it will be hard for us to gain some ranks, but I'm willing to crunch some wu's for it if we start.

Say... how about having one boinc and one non-boinc projects as smart projects? That way people that don't like/can't run boinc, will have an alternative. For example, several boinc projects don't have linux/Mac clients, so we could put a second non-boinc project as alternative.

I like that idea Neo

Yes Neo, that is also what i have though. We all have our favorite platforms and of source as you say above. My experience of Boinc is that there is to low credits and it takes long time to get to 300 recent average.
I have just lost many points in Shoft. Down from 224 to 188. I don´t like this and where is the fault. Is it Boinc or a fault through the human creature?

Boinc seems to be all projects father and this is a great step away from the traditionally. :!:

Sounds good to me...when do we start???

We need a non-BOINC project to be proposed. Anyone opposed to Dnet RC5-72 &/or OGR25-P2?

Start now :!:

That's two great projects there under one client. And it's ported to all possible and imaginary combinations of OS'es and CPU's...

By the way... what are our goals? Is it a achieving a specific rank, or will we just run it for a given timeframe? (and then switch to other smart projects after that)

Okay, I'm putting a system on OGR-25 tonight for the SMART effot. :)

Hello

I´m glad you all will use one of our computers to SMART.
I myself will contribute to OGR lather today.
Right now I have 2 computers on Majestic12 and i will run it on one because of so much bandwidth.

See you lather.

I'll be glad to help out in SMART. But I only have one pc. But I like the idea. :)

I only have one PC too. I'll put Predictor rolling as soon as the rest of the work queue clears on boinc. All other projects are now set to not get new work.

But once more I ask, do we have specific goals to reach at Predictor or Dnet?

Thank you! I understand you and it is ok. Nice of you telling you like the idea from AMDave.

Hello

I have change avatar showing a 5 years boy who don’t know anything

As a matter of form:

Vaughan have suggest Predictor [Boinc] and DNET Rc5/72 or OGR25-P2
I believe SMART Targets is to get so many as possible to each project, not one her and one there.

I think so: All who is prepared for running SMART have to tell what of these they want to run and how long time. We know that: 72CJ5 decide to run OGR-25. This is good. You other, what projects will you run? You can tell that as as you can.

Here are the contributors so far in OGR: 72CJ5 and Lagu
(I will get it a try in at least 3 weeks).

I'll be running OGR and RC5 on at least 2 computers.

Lagu, you'll be able to see who runs what in the Active stats.

as soon as I hit my target in Einstein (100K.. I'm at 91K) I'll do whatever BOINC project needs the firepower. I'm partial to BOINC and don't really want to mess with other programs. :P
