They're sending out emails to the people that registered on their forums.

http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/

Let's get started on it! :)

First SIMAP usage report

Registered and attached smoothly...
Downloaded three workunits about 1.3 Mbytes each..

And they all errored out due to lack of a file zlib1.dll :-(

EDIT:
The file can be found on the boinc main folder. Copy-pasting it to the project folder within boinc solves the problem.

As our webpage is still inaccessible and I don't know who (if anyone) is seeing this thread, I'll create an AMD Users Team for us there.

Vaughan, as soon as you're in pm me so that I transfer the Team to you.

The workunits are estimated to take 4 hours and 41 minutes on my XP2000+. I'll keep you guys posted with the latest updates if something changes/happens. :)

I'm in. Had problems with some z~something.dll file but copied it from BOINC to the Simap folder and it works.

Yea, everyone's having the same problem. What a flaw to have on a project launch day. I wonder how didn't they see that problem before launching...

Anyways, my first workunit took 8 hours to complete. Unfortunately I wasn't near the computer when it finished, so I didn't see how much of result size it was.

Signed up.

Too bad I have like 80 Rosetta WUs to crunch before Jan. 9.

The stats seem to have started running.

But we haven't had the luck of getting any of our submitted workunits validated yet. :-(

At least 3 of us are showing points now. :D

Allright! :)

One of my workunits was finally validated. Two more still waiting. Better start crunching some more on it again.

I think I have 5 pending. :D

Alright! Yippie!

It looks like they have run out of wu's, so I'm glad I have a few queued.

Yes I am in here too, but in the Status section it says => Pre empted

Just what the heck does that mean in the Queens English? Pre Empted...

Yea I have a 3500+ Xp machine so I know we are close in OS's. So we must be close in time for a work unit too. Thanks for the info there Blackadder.

Pre empted = Definition; To appropriate, seize, or take for oneself before others.

Now I am more confused who has control of my machine?

This is humorous folks, laugh with me ;)

Technical NEWS:

"December 18, 2005
New client release scheduled: A new BOINCSIMAP will be released on tuesday, 20th. This will fix the problems in release 5.03 caused by dynamically linked zlib1 which is missing."

Gee I had that problem and fixed it with a copy and paste maneuver, thanks to the support of my fellow AMDusers.

I finally understood what you meant Nflight. I really wasn't seeing where the preempted thing appeared.

It's when you're running several projects at the same time, boinc suspends a workunit of one project to start a workunit of another, the suspended workunit stays in "preempted" state. For some projects it stays in memory while waiting for an order to start again.

In one day I jumped over 100 points. That is the great news the bad news I am still last. I must overcome this feeling of last place.

Thank God I now know this is a real sport and I am not just goofing off with my computers and wasting all this time!

Next I am willing to enter the Solaris Zone!

I've moved my AMD systems over to SIMAP from CPDN, because CPDN performance for AMD systems is just terrible (my AMD 64 X2 4800+ was getting not too much more same credits as a P3 1GHz pentium - yuck)

So running on SIMAP are:

Full time:

AMD 64 X2 4800+
AMD Dual Opteron 242
AMD XP 3000+

Part time (finishing current CPDN Work units):

AMD XP 3000+
AMD Dual MP 2800+

Hopefully this will give a boost to our team stats in SIMAP.

Chris, are you using the stock boinc client, or an optimized one?

One thing is the project being Intel optimized... but a P3 1GHz almost matching an X2 4800+ is just... damn!

LP

I quit running SIMAP, and several other Boinc projects, due to the huge benchmark/points discrepancy between operating systems, and the fact that benchmarks can be manipulated.

Any additional points added to my SIMAP stats, is due to pending credit being validated.

I originally was using the stock, but I converted to the optimized one and while it almost doubled the benchmark numbers, the 4800+ didn't seem to benefit score wise.

I appreciate the effort everyone is doing for Simap, sorry LP, it seems there is a big descrepency in points values but they say they are going to work them out, in the long run.
Chris your doing an excellent job, you have enough hardware to tackle the job, I am very envious. I only have a 4200+ and we are tweaked till, well all get out! Without overheating that is.
I am using an optimized client and I am getting some pretty good numbers in Predictor Scripps but I can't tell with the lax reporting system Simap has in place. I suppose since they are so new it will just take a little time till we have better access to stats to analyze our efforts and focus on refining our efforts even more!
Thanks to Everyone for the effort so far! :)

Now for the bad news, we just dropped another notch we are now in 20 th spot.

Finished my 1st WU between 6-7 hours. Slight shorter than Einstein@Home WUs. I'll probably stick here for a while along w/ some Predictor WUs.

Yes we are making some headway, When Predictor Scripps went down the last 1 1/2 days I turned all my computers to full on in SIMAP. Just to make a difference and get off the bottom of the rung.
15th place looks a lot better then 20th or 21st, as it was for a short amount of time.
Thanks to all of our hard work we are pushing this project further along and doing a great job for the AMDusers TEAM!

I want to thank all of you; Kooonsty, LP, cicide, vaughan, NeoGen, Blackadder, Gamer007, and E-30 for all your hard work. :D

With the help we have squeaked into 11th overall.
Also with all the help we have pushed into 9th place in Recent Average Credit.

Everyone can pat themselves on there back, your all doing a great job!

Here's to hard work!

Yet another milestone thanks to Cicide and the rest of us overacheivers we have scored into the TOP 10.
Yes we are lving large but without the assistance of all the beneficial members of this Team effort, we would not be here bloating about making it into the top ten!

Thank You One and all !

And I mean every word, You are the shine in the morning that makes me proud to be here among you my fellow teammates. :!:

I've got all my AMD based systems crunching currently on SIMAP, shared with Einstein at home. It looks like I've got the daily rate to be in the SIMAP top ten users. And it looks like as a team we have the daily rate to be in the top ten teams as well.

A little more help from all AMD User members would probably vault us to the top team for daily average. Even if everyone just ran this app on a single system shared with a bunch of others, it would be a tremendous boost.

At this moment it seems SIMAP is having trouble like Predictor was just a few days ago. I have had no contact with Simap for about 2 hours, it will not send new work units!
Patience as I hope they work through this, but alas it is a holiday !
