Hey all. Lifetime AMD user all the way back to the early days. Might have noticed me moving up on the list at rosetta. Do you guys think it's cheating that my laptop is a p4? My main rig and secondary systems all AMD though :)

Nice to join the forum.

Hey kenji. Welcome to the team! Don't worry about the P4. Others here have Pentiums too (but the majority of the computers are AMD. ;) ). I'm getting a P4 myself in June.

What specs are your rigs running at? Other projects running?

Hiya kenji! Welcome to the Forums! :D

Just has gamer007 said, don't worry about the P4. We recon they're very powerful machines too (and better for crunching in maths projects), and as we have written in the mainpage "in the end all this is for a good cause." :)

Welcome kenji!!! :D

As far as the P4 is concerned, its totally ok. In fact to me its MORE satisfying to know that a P4 is forced to work for a team of "the enemy". LOL

If you look at my computers . I sadly run more Intel than AMD.
 but one day this will change

Sup Kenji,
the more crunchers the better. I have 4 pcs, 1 is AMD.
The only intel i have crunching is a pitiful 695mhz. I have 1.4ghz and a 2.6 that i hope to secretly install as a service over the summer, so my dad doesn't notcie. (':-

I've got 3 computers running as of the moment:

My main compy: AMD XP-M Barton 2400+ (1.35v running at 1.4v) FSB @ 200, multiplier currently down at 8.5? (waiting for my new hsf from newegg) I plan on upping this to 2.0 ghz + when i get better cooling. I've got a Gig of corsair value ram (dual channel 3200) And I've got dual SATA Hitachi 150 drives in RAID-0

My dad's computer (he's on a subaticle indefinately) is a Sempron 1.7 ghz (2500+?) I think it has 512 or 1 gb of ram

My laptop is a dell inspiron that my dad hand me down'd (I know, lucky..) It's a 2.4 ghz p4. which i upgraded to 680 mb ram

I have another computer in the guest bedroom which is my old Tbird 1.4 ghz. I believe I have 768 mb's of ram in it, however I haven't installed boinc on that computer yet, as the room is occupied and I don't want to invade the privacy of the roommate (maybe i'll put it on there sometime when he's home)

I plan on upgrading my main rig (actually buildling an entirely new one) sometime in the next 6 months or so. I want to go with a Dual core possibly opteron (but who knows what the best price/performance deal will be when I buy)

Anyways, THANKS SO MUCH for the warm welcome. I have to say I'm a member of many many forums and never before have I recieved such an incredible response. You guys are great .. look forward to chatting with you all.

Maybe in the future it'll be neglectible, but nowadays 128Mb still make some difference on a computer.

EDIT: Oops... I was looking at the wrong machine's specs.

actually it had 256 (2x128) and I bought a 512 stick. since there was only 2 slots i took a 128 out thus giving me 640.

You mean sorting by RAC? I think your 5th already.

I was talking about total credit, you've just reached 20th. :)
