As posted on the Rosetta@Home front page, they have opened a separate alpha project for development and testing of new features before they hit the main project.
It is called RALPH@Home (Rosetta@Home ALPHa project)

I'll direct those thanks to our fellow crunchers over at team Free-DC, it was on their forums that I saw a post about it. :roll:
They in turn probably saw it on the Rosetta site. It was on the site's news, but I only noticed that later.

I haven't tried it yet but my idea is that it only has work sporadically.
But work might have been released recently, because I think we dropped plenty of ranks.

It ran out of wus on the 16th. I dunno when there is going to be more, but i can't wait :D

If they ever do have more wus i have figured out a way for us to get mroe credit. In your ralph@home preferences you can change the amount of time you spend on a wu, since only one person gets a wu then you will request more and get more credit per wu. This is good since wus are in limited supply.

We can "order" wu's that take 4 days to crunch... geez, that's alot.
But on the other hand it should give out some 1,000 credits at once... :roll:

After doing some math i estimated that once i get one of the 4 day ones i will get about 2,700 points for it. I request 100 points at about 3.5 hours. 24/3.5 is about 6.8. Multiply that by 4 (each day) and you get about 27.42. Multiply that by 100 and you get 2,742. I am using crunch3rs (http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/) optimized boinc to increase my benchmarks making me request more credit. Anyone else running an optimized boinc?

I have optimized and non optimized versions and am constantly juggling between one and the other.

I finally got one workunit to crunch! :)

I think I had set it on the preferences for 2 hours, let's see how long it takes.
The workunit name is odd, it's called "BARCODE" :?:

EDIT:
One thing I noticed is that it's very demanding in resources... 120 megs of RAM + 200 megs VM? :?

Yea i got some too dude. Three actually, 2 on my dually and one on my laptop. I got the long 4 day flavor :D . I hope I can finish before the deadline of the 8th. Do you know if boinc will run a wu more if it is close to its deadline?

Yea, it continues until it is finished. But when it sees that the work might be late, it stops getting new workunits at all projects until the current work is all done. There's a name for that particular reaction, but I can't remember it right now.

The 2 on my dually errored out. :-( The one on my laptop is still going but i don't expect the 2,700 points from it. I guess i should just do 8 hour wus from now on. I think they errored out because of the app switching bug. That bug is why i quit rosetta too. When they said they had fixed it though, i grabbed 2 4 day ones from rosetta, and i had 1 of them error out already. :-(

EDIT:
Luckily Vaughan picked up one of my wus :D ,so at least the team will get more points. The other one went to a boinc synergy guy :cry:
