I think the Vista should cost money. XP Professional cost today 3000 Swedich crowns = 379,26 dollar. If vista vill cost 4000 crowns = 505,68 dollar. That perhaps is cheap in the USA but a large sum in Sweden. For many peoples it is 1/2 of income after tax. We have a tax deduction of 33-34%.

For 4000 crowns I can buy a waching mashine or a new AMD dual core.

Ubuntu linux is actually really good.
If Uni didn't FORCE me to use Word :mad: I might switch to it properly. Now I figure it might be time to switch sometime soon to a linux dual boot option :D

I see a problem already lining up and it isn't even on the shelf selling. The OS only supports 2 CPU's; hence Dual Cores YES new Quad Cores NO. Ain't that I bummer, I will have to turn over a new leaf and go with SOlaris after all. I have just become a SUN worshipper anyway, a much better product then Windows...

My assumed issue with Vista is that it will be exteremly 'FAT' with regards to memory and graphics use due to the AERO Glass engine. Although I am sure you can turn that off! ...it looks nice but for crunching it will probably cripple performance!

You can definately turn off the Aero theme. I hear the OS is "smart" enough to turn on/off settings depending on how powerful your computer is.
