New project people!! :D

Website: http://issofty17.is.noda.tus.ac.jp/

TANPAKU is a japanese project, very much like Predictor@Home. It studies the folding/unfolding process of proteins.
You don't need to know a word of Japanese to run this project. Hover the mouse on the links and you'll see all the familiar boinc addresses like "create_account_form", "top_teams", etc... :)

Creating an account
This project runs on Boinc v4, so account creation in through the site. Click here and join us:
http://issofty17.is.noda.tus.ac.jp/create_account_form.php?teamid=1
EDIT: As of June 15th Tanpaku now supports Boinc v5

Running the project
For now, the project only runs on Boinc v4. It says on the front page that boinc v5 is being tested with so maybe in the future they will move to v5. (No, I don't know Japanese. I used an online translator :P)
Almost forgot to mention... it supports Windows & Linux! :)

About Workunits
Workunits are pretty small. They take around 15 minutes on an Athlon XP 2000+. And they don't have graphics/screensaver to watch. (Screensavers are a waste of good cpu cycles if you ask me...)

Some useful links

Top Participants - http://issofty17.is.noda.tus.ac.jp/top_users.php?sort_by=total_credit
(Do you notice how the addresses resemble those of other projects? ;))

Have fun!! :D

Did I forget to mention that... we're ranked 1st!! :D

Thanks to Mayo, a new Japanese member that joined our Team, and is crunching on it real good! He's almost on top of the participants table. :)

Mayo, if you see this, Thanks! :)
And keep on going! ;)

Uses Boinc version 4 but this project is nice and stable with ample workunits available. Makes a change for some Boinc projects :)

It's funny that Cell Computing also uses boinc v4 (but customized).

Japanese people probably follow the rule "If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it!"

Guess what guys? Tanpaku now supports Boinc v5! :)

It doesn't export any txt or sql stats, so Team Ninja isn't gonna put it in the vault :-(
Once i get my video card working again, i'm going to switch over to it run MC with T@H

I have finally joined this now they've pulled their finger out and made it BOINC V5 compatible.

It;s exporting stats now! :D Going to be put in vault soon. We are ranked 9/105, 8th is only a little bit away.

Now that it supports Boinc v5, it could be a good candidate for a race also. :)

We AMD Users have a real advantage over there. A certain batch of wus only works on AMD processors :D
Check this out.

If thats the case, they need to have a method to sort it out and not send WU's to Intel because it's slowing down validation for AMD user's andcausing them to lose scientific results...

It's just one really small batch. The minimal quorum is one, so they only need one result per unint to get something from it i guess. I think they are all gone now, but if there was one bad batch there might be others. :D

Tanpaku was added to the vault, can someone add our team to it? :D

Important!
バージョンアップ後のアップリケーションに問題が見つかりました。異常に長いワークユニットはマニュアルで 削除していただきますよう、お願いいたします。詳細については、出来る限り早く報告いたします 。
A problem have been found in our application after upgrade of TANPAKU server. When you find the workunit that spends time abnormaly, please dicard the workunit manually. I will report the details of the probelm as soon as possobile.

I did the copy and paste routine. I got this off the main page.

Thanks for pointing that problem out Nflight. It appears to only affect INTEL cpus

Lisa's P4 was crunching the same task for hours; it usually takes 11 minutes. When I checked the Messages it said: Unrecoverable error (or similar anyhow).

I've upgraded her BOINC from v4 to v5.4.9 now that Tanpaku has updated itself to accept v5.x.x crunchers. Until Tanpaku fixes the Intel bug this PC is running XtremLab.

Optimized version, right? ;)

No, the boinc you installed. You put in an optimized version, maybe Crunch3r's, right? :)

I started running this project, and of course I like to push a little hard right off the bat. Crazy thing is I got this weird message!

7/8/2006 11:24:37 AM|Project TANPAKU|Message from server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 98.8% of time, BOINC on 100.0% of that, this project gets 14.1% of that

Just what does that mean, I can't push any harder then 14.1% of the time?

:dontknow:

Empty_5oul

its because of your averages.
You set a resource allocation typically 100 (I think). This is how much procesor it will get. Running multiple projects means the actual % per project goes down.
Therefore you run many projects so if all have work then this project gets only 14.1% of the total time. In terms of the WU they hav to dispatch and the relative expirey date you will not have had time to cruch and return them.

Therefore rather than over-allocate the machine and waste WU it says no instead!

NeoGen

When running multiple projects on boinc, each gets xx% of the 24 hours of a day. If those few hours of a day, corresponding to the percentage, are not enough for boinc to be sure that you can crunch more work, it will complain and say that the project time slice is not enough to get more work.

And hence the message you got there.

Thank You gentleman I am detaching the Projects I am no longer running. When I decide to reattach to those projects I will keep that in mind.

Great Responses from both of you!

I completely understand. :D
