Hi

From Majestic 12´s forums today!

Great news everybody - the Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk) - big national UK paper published an article about the project! :D

You can read it online here (http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/story/0,,1736761,00.html).

Thanks go to Michael Pollitt - the Guardian's journalist who spotted MJ12bot in his log files and followed it up so nicely, I am really happy that this well written article is published in a very nice newspaper that I read almost every day online :)

Congratulations everybody! This is the community's achievement and we will prevail :)

Thanks Lagu and thanks to all supporters from AMDusers - the search engine now runs exclusively on AMD processors too! :)

It is really good to see mass media picking on distributing computing - we all know the future of computing is distributed and what we do now is very much like The First Voyage of Columbus - the land is near! :D

Congrats Alex! Google's days are counted! :)

But be careful with the mass media effect Alex. Many distributed projects have problems with sudden masses of people joining in. Sometimes the servers can't handle the strain.

Thanks NeoGen - the article is really about all of us, its good that press picks up on distributed computing - maybe it will result in chicks really digging it in a few years

Sometimes the servers can't handle the strain.

This is true, luckily we have more capacity now than before and even more should appear in a week, hopefully we will be okay. :)

An excellent article for you, alexc.

I noted
Ideally, I'd like to distribute the search index...A small-scale experiment with one country, perhaps Finland, may happen later this year
Getting the hardware and support in place is quite a challenge.
We are watching with great interest.
When you are ready for a "stress" test, we'll be there for you :)
...but you already knew that :D

Thanks Dave, just let me get reasonable relevance on the search engine and get a fair few queries to see if patterns allow distribution of index to nodes, well, more like the best way to distribute it, it is certainly possible to a degree, I just don't want to compromise much while doing it :)
