As most already know AMD started locking all there CPUs but the A-64. Well it has come to my attention AMD left one of these new chips unlocked. The XP mobiles (NOT MP) are still unlocked and are socket A CPUs which most boards will support but not all. They are barton core with 512k cashe and the even better thing is there 266FSB instead of the 333FSB, which for you overclockers its even better and the Default Vcore is 1.45v instead of the 1.65v. Im reading that most everyone is getting 2500MHz out of the 2500+ mobile. Well find out shortly as mine is on its way.

I just got a new tbred b 1800+ yesterday and it's the newest stepping sixIB and also unlocked. Has anyone tried to go above a 12.5 multiplier with the lower speed XP's?

can't go above 12.5 with my xp2800. Motherboard limits, even though bios says can go to 13.0. Asus A7n8X Deluxe.

The Nforce2 chip set unlocks all CPUs multipliers up to 12.5, above that they are locked. But the Nforce 2 only unlocks CPUs that have a default multiplier of 12.5 or lower. like a 2100+ with a 13 mulitplier is locked and needs the wire trick but a 2000+ with a multiplier of 12.5 will be unlocked and needs nothing to change multipliers.

what is the manufacture date on the CPU? it will be a number like 0345 etc....

Man you are so lucky you have one of the very few unlocked CPUs AMD made. In short anything made after week 39 is locked (0339). What kind of O/C are you getting out of it?

Do you mean with the new ones only? I only have 1 here and its old, but multi is 14 at the moment

I think it would go higher, but its on a MATX board with few bios options, and only has a 200w psu, I had to use one of these http://www.upgradeware.com/english/product/xptmc/xptmc.htm in order to set the multiplier

Ok I have finished installing a pair of Mobile Barton core 45 watt 2400's in my dually and here are the results.

Before:
2xXP 2400 Tbred B modded for SMP(multi at 16=2128mhz)
Sandra scores
Dhrystone ALU 16,185
Whetstone FPU 5234
CPU0-54 deg Celsius idle
CPU1-50 deg Celsius idle

After:
2xMobile 2400(multi at 16=2128mhz)
Sandra scores
Dhrystone ALU 17,787
Whetstone FPU 6736
CPU0-39 deg Celsius idle
CPU1-33 deg Celsius idle
I have done nothing except raise the multiplier to equal the old CPU's for a fair test.
I'm thinking maybe more are in order? Anyone looking for unlocked Tbred B's? lol

They were purchased from Newegg 3 days ago and are still unlocked.
