Posted at all boinc projects message boards...

I am not impressed with the quality of BOINC web pages, so I started working on making the pages XHTML 1.0 strict compatible. I made a nice progress, and sent my changes to David Anderson, the main developer of BOINC system so that the changes would be checked into CVS and made public.

But sadly, David responded:

Thanks for the diff,
but XHTML conformance is not a goal - I like being able to use

as a separator.

I got no response to continued attempt to persuade him that XHTML was good. I even suggested using

as a separator if he wanted - it would still be a valid code and work as intended. No response.

Seeing that there is no other option to persuade David (and make use of my work), I ask you to sign a petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/bncxhtml/. Once we have enough signatures, I will send the link to David with hopes to succeed.

C'mon guys, let's give our bit of help here. :)
The boinc pages might seem pretty from the outside, but Rytis and surely others know how ugly they look from the inside. I know the change won't give us users any fancier pages (they'll still look the same from the outside) but it's the inside that counts. Especially on an open sourced project like boinc. The more it grows the harder it'll be to manage if it's not properly structured.
If the only bit where we can apply some strict coding standards is on the webpages, then so be it. Every little bit counts in the end. :)

My belief is that David obviously has his reason's for not wanting to change the web pages and thus I'm not gonna sign up. ;)
