Saw was being ranked now and could not find a AMD Users team. Did see it would run diskless:

"Can the NFSNET Client work in clustered environment which may or may not be diskless?
Yes, clustered environments are supported, including diskless clusters. For instructions on how to configure for these environments, please contact the NFSNET admin team."

I couldn't find how to create a team either?? :?: :?: I configured the client on one computer and when prompted for team I entered "AMD Users". I'll let it run for a while and see if this will create our team??

I don't know how often stats are updated but if it works should see Team "AMD Users". I also sent an email asking how to create a team. No reply yet.

I think the way a team is created is in the config.txt this should be a really good project for AMD cpus.

Well I started running on one pc as well using the "AMD Users" you put. Checked config file and it had "AMD Users" as well.

Bionic - would this run on the diskless system you are working on?

There is a AMD Users team now. But only Tumppi listed? I am not listed or you BWhite or Bionic. I wonder if we did something different then Tumppi.

I don't know what is going on. I sent an email yesterday and still haven't heard anything back. I'll do something else (FAH) until we figure this out.

BTW GAH is ending due to lack of funding.

Cool - Must just now be updating stats from yesterday. None of us were on there an hour ago so must be adding slowly instead of all at once. I was curious to see how BR's had done.

Now if one of Mods can email someone at the DC Overall rank page and tell them to start showing our stats. This is in Math 2 as well so will help as will ECC.

Done.

Could someone tell us step-by-step how to get this client running and running for AMD Users

jlangner

Maybe a better way, but I downloaded the client and unzipped into a folder.

http://www.nfsnet.org/join.html

1) I then ran "NfsnetInit" in the folder. It ask questions like user name, team name "AMD Users", email, etc. Once complete I then;
2) Started the client "NfsnetClient" in folder and that is it. (Made a shortcut for desktop)
3) There is a GUI app in file as well called "nfsGUI" you can run to track progress.

Bwhite if you ran different or easier post.

Jeff

I believe Anaconda is the name of the diskless nodes.

Bionic_Redneck
03-11-2004, 04:33 PM
