All this talk of Mitro's brand new OC'd DC Opteron along with the BOINC Championship got me clicking to see what everyone has...

and I found this beauty of NeoGen's
http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=343

Measured floating point speed 60.37 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 82.21 million ops/sec

can anyone of us get lower than that? else, NeoGen will have to give the prize for the slowest system cruncher to himself! ;)

Hi

Can it be because he run Linux on a Pentium II? I have read anywere the Benchmark programs can´t test a computer as use Linux properly.

My pentium II 350 MHz as is running Windows ME (Because of JRE) has:

304 MIPS Whetstone
531 MIPS Dhrystone

I think I may be nearing the bottom...

Measured floating point speed 232.77 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 404.57 million ops/sec
:D

You got me there blackheat! ;)

Actually, that was my AthlonXP 2000, running a QEMU virtual machine with linux on it. It was at a time when Leiden only had workunits for linux, and I thought I'd give it a try. I swear I'll never try QEMU again! That thing is slower than anything else I've seen lately... :?

Measured floating point speed 1827 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 3473.1 million ops/sec
Is mine low? Is it possible to speed it up?

Depends what your PC spec is Dee although it's a lot faster than NeoGen's virtualised system  ! ...also, are you running one of the optimized BOINC clients on it yet?

Think I may have to run a virtual system just to see how bad it is!

What is your version of Boinc? Is it 5.2.6?
If you have an optimised Boinc it should be 5.2.13 for Windows_intelx86.

Do your computer support SSE? If you not know, download CPU-Z version 1.33, run it and it will show you what your computer support.

My version is 5.3.19! I'm off to look at your link now!....I'm back...downloaded it, used it, but haven't got a clue as to what sse is!

SSE is a set of instructions as will speed up your processors performance. If your computer allows SSE you can use an optimised Client and get a higher Floating points and a higher Integer points called Dhrystone MIPS and Whetstone MIPS (Millions Instructions Per seconds).

This gives you higher points per done WU´s.

How do I tell if it allows SSE? How do I upload a photo of it?

5.3.19 I believe is the BBC Climate app.
Therefore the optimised client will have no affect and wont work.

The red highlighted area is where it will tell you what instructions the CPU can support.

So do I need the upgrade version...and if so would I have to wait until my current one is finished...or start again?

Apologies for the shaky webcam pic!

Cant say because I've not tried to go from the offcial BOINC client to the BBC modified one. :?

If it's anything like me whe I tried the development version of BOINC (Not recommended..)
http://www.amdusers.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2452
then yes you would need to change.

But AFAIK if you back up the files in the BOINC folder but uninstall it then add the current 5.2.13 client (downloaded off the BOINC website) it should keep all your work. (if not just restore the back up)

Drezha's right, that's exactly what I did for BBC CCE and it worked fine.

Regarding the under clocked systems, I've just got my old G5 iMac on the Leiden project...

Measured floating point speed 988.87 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 3163.24 million ops/sec

I don't think it will give Mitro any sleepless nights mind you!

I think someone's obsessed

My lowest score is my laptop (a vintage 2001 Dell Pentium 3)

Measured floating point speed 713.26 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 1824.31 million ops/sec

I think that was at 550MHz with an optimized client.

EDIT: I just looked up my 165:

Measured floating point speed 4113.38 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 12518.01 million ops/sec

I guess it won't win this contest. :P

That's over 4 times faster than my Mac, Ouch that hurts!

Well at least we all have a chance at beating Mitro in this contest! ;)
