Ah well... DUMP! :cool:

EDIT: Oh crap.. maybe that's why I had a little disadvantage.. I thought it started a day later. :mad:

Mondays at 9:00 am here.

Its goin' to take some time to switch the pharm off Sztaki and on to Predictor but the process has started :!:

I've dumped all mine (not many) and I seem to have finally aquired a load of WU's to run on each system - why didn't I get all these before the race started? :roll:

Oh well...

Now can anyone tell me why this is happening; does Predictor have different job applications which take a different amount of time to complete and is it based on processor type?...

* My Dual Core 2.8 Intel is taking 1.18 to complete a WU :roll:

* My 2way Opteron is under 40mins to complete a WU :cool:

* My Mac is taking over 3 hours to complete a WU :shock:

* My old boy Intel P4 2GHz is taking 2.40 to complete a WU :?

* My other old boy Intel PentM 1.6 is taking 1.01 to complete a WU :)

All of them have the latest BOINC and the x86/x64 systems all have Crunch3r's client. The DC Intel shouldn't take that long surely and it certainly should be quicker than a PentM 1.6??? ...and the Mac G5 might have to retire from the race unless it gets it's finger out and starts crunching!

Strange how the benchmarks do not reflect the time taken to complete!

Any ideas? ...I know if they were all AMD I probably wouldn't have this problem but I am using all these disparate systems for a comparison and yet Predictor has thrown me completely off target when compared with other projects!

Yes they do have different applications...
http://predictor.scripps.edu/apps.php

All are avaliable for all the OS's you mention.
BUT

I cant say whether they favour a chip make or not. Coudln't really help there because I only have AMD chips on it...and they all have mbfold

Strongbow

They're all crunching "mfoldB125 4.28"

EDIT:

Just found out that my Mac is running "mfoldB125 4.29"

Hi

My AMD Athlon 2300+ crunch both mfold8125 4.28 bprion 10 and 11 between 42.50 to 44.01 minutes.
My AMD Athlon 1001 crunch 4.28 bprion 10 and 11 between 2.17.11 to 2.18.53 hours.

Predictor is a little harder to crunch than SZTAKI.

Lagu :)

Hi Lagu,

Your benchmarks reflect the difference in compute time required, mine however look like this (in order of completion time)...

* <=41mins - Opteron248
Measured floating point speed 3748.04 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 12229.73 million ops/sec

* 1.01mins - Intel PentM 1.6
Measured floating point speed 2205.72 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 8466.15 million ops/sec

* 1.22mins - Intel Dual Core 2.8
Measured floating point speed 3109.09 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 9982.19 million ops/sec

* 2.40mins - Intel P4 2GHz
Measured floating point speed 1724.88 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 6668.02 million ops/sec

* 3.02mins - iMac G5
Measured floating point speed 965.23 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 2986.3 million ops/sec

It's very strange :cry: :?

I must admit though if Predictor really does favour the PentiumM then I have 3 more 1.6's I could power up (wish it was 3 more Opty's mind you).

Patience is something I just seem to not have much of lately. Especially when it comes to seeing results for work done, and a lot of work done, but no results are showing, What gives?
I dumped a full two days of work Units and the result is exactly what Mitros machine did for me and nothing of my own. Maybe I am giving someone elses machine points and not mine!

Ye gods. Mitros still got three opterons even after he has loaned two out. Is Mrs Mitro giving birth to them!

Blackheath, Looking at my results I have not yet found a WU also crunched by anything but an AMD machine. Do they have different WUs for intel or is it that the different processors crunch differently and they can't validate each others results? dAVE

Ah there's the rub. :D

I've still got quite a cache of Sztaki work to crunch yet ... but I'm getting there :!:

An observation: Predictor runs slowly on a P4 compared to an Athlon XP.
Almost 2 hours per task on a P4 Prescott 3.2 compared to about 58 minutes on an Athlon XP2800+ both Win XP Pro SP2 and 1 GB DDR400 RAM. Sztaki and Leiden Classical were / are much closer in times per CPU.

If it wasn't for this BOINC Championship I'd switch the P4s back to something they like eg. SOB.

Is Predictor more memory intensive then?

I haven't really noticed, however my workunits:

46 min - AMD X2 4200+
50 min - AMD 64 3200+

Dunno what the shitty Intel machine at work takes but i bet it's over 60 mins.

Even though Mitro has loaned Nflight and myself a couple of his crunchers he could still easily win! :shock:

...but even more worrying is Vaughan ...he calmly keeps saying that he is finishing off the SZTAKI jobs from last week before he properly commits to Predictor! :-k

So nobody is safe and it already looks like it'll be another close race to the finish line again!

Hi NeoGen

Yeah, I have had 2 stops on both computers. Om my old AMD Boinc Manager had got a hang up and I discovered it first after unknown amount of hours. I had to restart my computer to get Boinc running again and the log vas removed so I couldn’t see how long the stop had been. When I should log on my Bank I had to pause Boinc and forgot to start it again. I guess I lose 3 hours before I discovered it.
Yesterday when I should upload my WU I had sure 150 different files as had been paused due to a communication fault from the server I believe. I have checked the log and got this:

Crunched Uploaded Time.......Number
06-05-22..06-05-23 00.06.52.....1
06-05-22..06-05-23 23.57.42.....6
06-05-22..06-05-23 23.57.21.....3
06-05-22..06-05-23 23.57.05.....3
06-05-22..06-05-23 07.52.26.....4
.................................Summa:17

06.05.23..06-05.24 00.06.15.....26

As you can se I start upload of yesterdays work next day 23.57. Because of the slow upload process my work shows up the wrong day if I understand it right. Work done 23 finished 00.06. I had at least 150 different files as took long time to upload.

When Predictor update the stats it will be right. yesterday I had 155 WU´s. Now 233 a difference of 78. I can reminds wrong but it can be right too.

I´dont know if there will be more points day 3. Todays uploads will be 43-44

We just took 24th place in Predictor, Nice going everyone!

Competition is for seeing just how power your words match you computing power, I thoroughly enjoy knowing that Vaughan has the power behind him when he says he has a small Pharm, I believe him.

Don't worry I am not slowing down nor giving up! But while the systems are stable there is no need to crank them anymore, expecially right in the middle of a competition.

Motivation is Everything ! is my personal motto.

Apart from having an Intel inside my Wife has been recording several Post Man Pat and the Teletubbies on it! I thought I had shut all that Media stuff down! ...maybe she does know more than I thought! :oops:

So I've been losing valuable crunching time due to 'Tinky Winky' and a 'black and white cat'!!! :roll: :lol:

So if you see anything that looks like this on your PC, delete it! ...it's EVIL!!!

The things I'll have to do for the team...

I was looking at the scores everyone has in the Pharmers League, The position of First, is pretty much a done deal, unless Mitro has something Up his sleave, BlackHeath wins!

In Third place is Vaugnan who is only slightly ahead of me by 430 points, that means if he quivers in anyway he may lose to me by a smidgen.

In the sixth, seventh, and eighth positons the score is so close all three positions are seperated by only 462 points. Anyone of AMD-USR_JL, Beerknurd, or Maybach can come out on top.

Mitro and Sou'westerly (aka grandpa dAVE) are basically sealed positions, unless either one has a trick up there sleaves.

Way to go everyone, quite an impressive supply of Giga Hertz and work units.
