Add that and crunch3r's boinc 5.5.0 and you got yourself a monster cruncher! :D

I've been trying crunch3r's 5.5.0 and it's phenomenal! :D

Altough Vaughan told me that he tried it with an Intel and the results were worse than the previous version. :P

Maybe there's a reason other than aesthetics that the v5.5.0 on crunch3r's site is aligned with the AMD logo and the older versions are aligned with the Intel logo.

Gonna try this out.

I'll report back when I know how long the 1st [and next few] WUs turn out.

Here are my results:

Original: 3,851s
Akosf's Sim_16: 2,567s
decrease of 1,284s
or 20minutes

Done my 1st (actually 2nd, my 1st one was already in progress w/ the original file).

BEFORE: 1:50hr (6,281.34 seconds)
AFTER: 1:17hr

Nice small improvement, but better nonetheless. :)

Well it shaved off some time off my workunits, about 10-20 mins off each one. It's all good.

My work units have gone from 1hr 6mins and 1hr 18mins to 50mins and 55mins... amazing!

These BOINC projects should really optimise their .exe's.

While being a nice improvement, its nothing compared to what Akosf did for the Einstein client. I have a Athlon XP @ 2.133GHz thats got a RAC of well over 1000. :) It should be interesting in a few weeks :)

Akosf said that SIMAP doesn't use floating-point operations, so he can't just add SSE or 3D NOW!+ . I think he has to write new code or something like that. This is why SIMAP is the revenge of the slow computers.

I dropped from 1 hour 6 minutes average to 51 to 53 minutes average with my XP3200...not quite as dramatic as the drop in Seti times with that optimized client but still very good :D
