Mitchellds's great new motor got me thinking that it's time to start a car thread!

I love cars and am in need of replacing my two old 'boys', got to get her inside to buy into this idea first of course

My Old Fella is a TD5 Discovery II ES, had it since new and it's now time for a change as it's starting to get expensive to keep it working. It looks similar to this one but in Epsom Green...

My Monster is a Merc CL500 with a few cheeky (Merc fitted them so I'm not cheating!!!) engine tweaks. The new one is coming out next year but I'll probably replace this with something a bit more practical (growing family). It sort of looks like this one but without the orange bit on the front bumper...

http://www.ferettimotors.com/site/car_pictures/main_car_image_1992_large.jpg

I'm thinking of one big 4x4 (probably a Range Rover or a Cayenne) as we do use the Discovery a lot every year in the Alps so I need a decent 4x4, and a little runaround with 5 doors! Haven't really a clue at the moment about the little runaround, probably a VW Golf (I know it's dull but it is practical)!

So what have you lot got parked outside your crunching houses?

A Chevy and a Kia.

We have a bmw 525d, a lancia lybra sw (that's what i drive) and an alfa romeo gt. Blackheath, one tip: don't take the cayenne turbo S, at least if you plan on reaching your destination in the alps because it doesn't even need snow to make its wheels spin like crazy. i know because a friend of mine has one of those at home and i got to drive in it -> bad idea from my friend because he almost got a heart attack when i gave it some stick

PS: brabus has some nice ideas if you would consider keeping your cl500 ;)
PS2: if you'd like a bigger merc, brabus also does S-classes ;)

My neighbour has recently bought a Cayenne Turbo S its the best looking one I've seen. All the chrome bits have been painted matt black (on the Porsche option list apparently), huge black wheels and tinted windows! ...evil looking machine!

...at around £100k it's a crazy price though! :shocked!:

EDIT: Brabus!!! I could buy a couple of those Cayenne Turbo S's for the price of upgrading mine! Love to do it but that's way out of my league! :-({|=

Mine's a Citroen Xantia Estate 1.9 TDi with 210,000 miles on the clock.

I used to have a VW Corrado G60 before my kids were born.

I use to have a VW Corrado 16v. They were great cars, I've never found another car that I could sling around corners like that one! ...not that I do that anymore due to having baby chairs taking up my back seats

I wouldn't mind driving a 4x4, but my lancia has done quite a bit of field work as well being a 4x2

I used to be a fanatic when it came to cars, owning in the past a Merkur XR4ti, A Saab 900 Turbo, a Mazada 323 GTX, and the list goes on till I decided that cars are just tools. Cars get me from point A to B and back again, what I do at Point A or B is what really matters. I don't need a chariot to impress anyone, I need a mind to make the difference.
I would prefer to own a horse right at this moment, they could eat my tall grass from 7 inches of rain in the last week.

But, I own a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire auto, sunroof, A/C, stock everything else: 33 mpg avg. ( the glovebox tells you a geek really does own this car, VOM, VTVM, fox and hound, GPS, Camera, Binoculars and a switch to turn off the fuel pump when left alone in the city - you steal the car with the fuel pump off = you get about 1/4 mile period) The last car I drove told me that owning some expesive car was not what it was meant to be, as someone else figured they wanted to own it more then I did, stolen 2002 Corvette. This Sunfire car is on the bottom of Stolen Car Lists, no one wants one but me!

Over all the cars I have owned in my last 25 years, I would take the Mazda 323 GTX one more time, please. 2nd would be the SAAB 900 Turbo what a blast to drive - built like a tank ( the reason I got rid of it was the fact the headliner started to fall in the middle of my driving habits).

So your corvette was stolen???? That sucks, that sucks big time. I hope that never happens to me, because i would cry for a week or so.

as you may or may not know, my previous car (the lancia lybra sw) is no more. i spun it in a corner and crashed into some concrete poles. anyway, this is my new one. its a Lancia Dedra 2.0 ie Turbo HF. it packs 160 horsepower for those interested

Frederic Brillouet

I might be adding something new to the list some time soon. You probably all know I replaced the Lancia Dedra Turbo HF with a Land Rover Freelander 1.8 petrol. Now it appears that once you've owned a fast(ish) car you dont want to go slower (as it is at the moment). However, I have my last exam next week wednesday and I already talked to my father about wanting to sell the Freelander and buying a new car. After a long time thinking I have a few candidates for what I could buy (Subaru Impreza GT Turbo, Toyota MR2), but one car has almost come in reach that I would definately like to own. Its a beast, a rear wheel drive monster. The e39 model BMW M5. 4.9 V8, 400 HP

All this talk of cars, especially those ones back in England :)

When I lived over there I had in order

Ford Fiesta 1.1 !!
Ford Sierra Sapphire GLS
Ford Mondeo Si (in Citrine Yellow)

then moved to the US and bought a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT convertible with 210bhp. I loved that car, but then kids and dog came along so I traded it in for a Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4x4.

My wife though has recently bought a 2007 Dodge Charger R/T with a 5.7L HEMI V8 producing 340Bhp. Very nice car to drive..

I always wanted a Sapphire Cosworth at the time, insurance was way too high though... never had an ounce of trouble with any of my Fords. We looked at the Shelby Mustang before buying the Charger and it was nice (500hp) but just too small when you have two kids. And my wife wanted the AWD as well.

Can someone lend me 4000 euros please? I'm having a major argument with my parents about selling the freelander for another car, so I'm going to empty all my savings, but I'm still 4k euros short.

I assume you mean the 205 Mi Nflight? It was a nippy car, 1.9 block (not the 2l) with a 1.6 gearbox so had awesome b-road power :icon_mrgreen:

i have very nice memories of a 1956 6 cyl in line E type jag and i dare say it would have been one of the scariest cars i have ever been in, oh yeah it came 7th in a 24 hour endurance race in italy in the late 80's

ps it just isnt right to see the needle of the taco swing up like it is in neutral in any gear

Unfortunately it's not a T16... I can't afford one of those. The only thing a T16 has in common with a road going version is the rubber seal around the front wind shield :icon_lol:
