I have come in this forum for some help . Want to instal internet security in my pc. , but don't have much idea on this subject . I have searched the net And found a site dealing with digital certificates http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid14_gci211947,00.html
Some sites say that digital certificates work as an online passport thus securing all the personal information effectively .
Can anybody give me some more idea on digital certificates (http://www.ssl.com) ?

Digital certificates as far as I know are mostly used on encrypting emails. Messages encrypted by digital certificate authenticate that the sender of the message is who he claims to be. (Unless the certificate was stolen or something...)
I don't think they provide any security on a daily basis. The best thing to do to have your computer secured is installing a firewall and antivirus. Before reading your post I thought you were going to talk about firewalls/antivirus packages because "Internet Security" is a common name for computer security packages out there, like Norton Internet Security and Mcafee Internet Security.

Also, install and periodically run AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html)
Oh, and AVG (http://free.grisoft.com) is a good free anti-virus program.

Yes digital certification or ssl certs (http://www.ssl.com/) is indeed a good way of securing data between the web server and browser .. The entire process is complex and invisible to the general web surfer too but there are certain keys which ensure that the data which we punch is secured. This is their protocal and it helps during online transactions.
