I just collected everyone's base values. Let the crunching begin! :)

And here are the stats:

Bit late, but dumping now! :)

Been trying to learn how to model using Blender.

I'm already @ 600 pending credits. Didn't expect that since the WUs were so small. Some of participants really need to crunch faster! I will not wait while my stats here so 400 on one day, then 50 in day 2, etc. :P

The initial blast usually gets people up there, but after the second or third day it's always stabilized. :)

No problem, search your oldies mp3 files for the song Spinning wheel "What goes up, must come down"

With a little bit of fine-tuning you will land from high above right down on the point.
Good luck

He did it Hermann. Gamer is now on top of the Regulars League. :)

Blackheath has slowed down the pace, while vaughan on the other hand increased. This is gonna get interesting in the next few days.

Hehe, but not for long unfortunately.

My computer had a premature crash (after rebooting for Windows Updates) during the bootscreen. For the last few hours I've been trying to do something w/o reformatting it. I don't have any backups of anything...

Now I'm gonna use BartPE to boot and edit the registry to stop "Windows Rebooting after Serious Crashes" so I can see what the BSOD is.

Wish me luck.

Gamer 007, I had exactly the same problem. I got to the end of the boot and everything stopped dead as soon as windows was due to load. I did several resets with exactly the same result. I got so mad I pulled the plug out of the wall. I came back 10 minutes later plugged in and started it up. Guess what it booted perfectly! There must have been a bug in the update, has microsoft made any announcements? dAVE.
Edit: Best Of Luck.

It's worth a shot.
I'll try it. Thanks for the suggestion.

EDIT: No go... BartPE time to see what the BSOD is.

EDIT 2: In BartPE bootCD OS right now. Looks like my whole hard drive is corrupted! :bad-words: There goes all my data. Good thing I didn't erase my CD/DVD-RWs w/ my music. Too bad all my Family Guy episodes and James Bond movies are gone.... And all my App backups. And my BOINC Crunch3r stuff.

Well, I've been out of the contest for the last 24h. I reformatted so everythings fresh. I got a program called GetDataBack for NTFS to recover my data. I can say it looks like it works. I just need my dad to give me a 2nd hard drive for a few hours to copy my lost data. :) 1st time I ever needed data recovery after a full format and OS reinstallation.

I'll be back in the race sometime later tonight. My only source of credits so far is my 500 pending credits (last I checked).

You can bring data back even after you reformat the drive?

gamer007
07-12-2006, 09:31 PM
GetDataBack for NTFS claims it does. It shows all my music and data from before the format. Though I can't tell the integrity of the files. I'll be trying it when my dad gives me a temp. 2nd hard drive.

Guess I'll be wanting to get a permanent 2nd HDD for xmas. I can't let this happen again all of a sudden.

Is anyone elso getting this message when they try and get work from Primegrid?
13/07/2006 00:20:36|PrimeGrid|Message from server: Daily quota (150) exceeded.
13/07/2006 00:20:36|PrimeGrid|No work from project

:? dAVE.

Yep and on the dual cores when they exceed 300.

NeoGen
07-13-2006, 12:44 AM
Wow... I didn't think that limit would be reached easily.

You're taking between 11 and 12 minutes per workunit so 150 would give you for something between 27 and 30 hours. (roughly calculated)

Did you notice any really short workunits lately?

EDIT: I'm doing a little bit of basic maths here and to be able to break the 150 wu/core/day quota you'd have to crunch them at an average of less than 10 minutes each.

You can partion your one physical hardrive into two logical ones. I used norton partition magic, but there maybe others. You can even make a hidden partion that is invisible to your os and put your most secretive files on it.

gamer007
07-13-2006, 01:03 AM
I used Partition Manager to make 2 parititons. After this experience, I'm seriously considering getting anothe HDD. This gave me quite a fright since I don't have any backups of my music, videos, etc.

Now back ontopic, I'll be back in the contest in hopefully a few hours. I never reached the threshold either. But there are ways around it. ;) BoincStudio. I'm still fighting with it to get more WUs each scheduler request, since for some reason it likes to contact every 2min to get WUs rather than all in a row.

I think it's becuase PrimeGrid isn't like other BOINC projects. It never obeys my general preferences (ie: always using 2 CPUs for me rather than 1). :?

AMD-USR_JL

Sorry bout the off topic. Partion, roflmaoswom. I'm definetly upgrading to firefox 2.0 beta, i don't care if it disables my extensions. My spelling is really that awefull.

gamer007
07-13-2006, 01:33 AM
Well that was random.
Why not wait for FF2.0 final? So anxious to try out 2.0?

And can we get back on-topic? I apologize for going off-topic for a bit back there.

AMD-USR_JL

Much better! :D I heard that you can reset the project, so it thanks you have a new cruncher and gives you more wus, then merge them. :D Is BoincStudio still in French only?

gamer007
07-13-2006, 02:00 AM
Nope, there's English. I heard it selects the language your currently using, but it started in French for me once.

But I think there's a tab where you can switch languages.

NeoGen On the dual core I crunch 2 WUs in 12 minutes (1 per core) and with a total limit of 150 I run out of work in about 15 hours. I think I should have researched this project a bit more but time is tight here. She who must be obeyed is having about half the house rebuilt around me and the builder has trice drilled through power cables. dAVE :hathat3:

IM BACK! Now to get BOINC up and ready to *hopefully* keep my 1st place.

I recovered 90% of my data. I lost several Family Guy episodes and some music. Hopefully nothing else. :)

The XPS dual core T2600 takes less than 8 minutes each.

NeoGen

Doesn't a dual core act like a dual cpu setup? Their quota is 150 wu/cpu, and dual cores show up on the user pages as 2 cpus. You should be getting 300 workunits a day, 150 per core.

dAVE
07-13-2006, 05:21 PM
The FAQs say that the limit is per core but they also say that the limit is 45 per core so they must be out of date. It's no great problem as it gives me some time to run some Einstein units as well. dAVE

You can bring data back even after you reformat the drive?

Sorry to take this back off-topic, but I was just going to say: when you format a drive, the data is still there, it just takes the entries for the files or whatever so that you can not read it. then it just get over-written with new data. the data recovery software is still able to go in a find the data, becuase it is technically still there...

AMD-USR_JL
07-13-2006, 07:19 PM
So even if it was reformated 5 to 7 times it might still be able to recover some files?

PcManiac
07-13-2006, 07:22 PM
hmm, lol, that many times, you might have problems, I think that if you are trying to secure erase, you should do it at least 5 times, but if you just re-format it once to reinstall, you will still be able to get to it.

Oh, I also just added 6 computers to my account, those same little athlons hehe. I'll see what they can do for me.

I wanted to get my original boinc folder back (the crunch3r one). I guess i'll try and see what happens.
Thanks

And another wacky race has come to the end, with vaughan and Big Whiskey crossing the finishing line in 1st place of their respective leagues. Congrats to both of you! :D

With the push we gave on this project we are now fairly safe from threats, and at the same time we crossed the 500,000 credits milestone. Go Team! :)

In less than 48 hours from now, the last race of this championship will take place. After having tried projects from USA, UK, Netherlands, etc, we will finish the championship in the beautiful and exotic country of Japan, on the Tanpaku International race track. :P

Hope to see you all there for... The Final Showdown!

gamer007

I could've probably kept 1st place, if it wasn't for those medling kids... I mean HDD corruption.

Ready for TANPAKU. Now for the 1st place goal. Hehehe. I have to juggle between play games for Whatpulse or leave my computer idle for TANPAKU.
And whose idea was it to make the deadline 24 hours!? :-(
