Many in Tanpaku run Intel Pentium 4 and use either Win XP or Linux. Many of you have for sure discovered how you claim high points but earn little. Why? Yes Intel as use XP or Linux is always slower than newer AMD computers. Every time I watch my computers WU´s I can see how many as have AMD´s run the same task faster. I have newer seen Intel run faster than AMD. That’s mean not I will be first upload my WU.
But I have difficult to accept the fact Intel processors if they is first to upload their works claimed lower points. For example I have claimed 46.34 points but earned 9.05.
My old Athlon as use 14.198.90 CPU-seconds claimed 51.03 points but got 12.32. What was the cause? Yes, there was an AMD Athlon MP 2800 as was first and claimed 12.32 points and earned 12.32 points. This computer use 6.412,80 CPU-seconds and claimed so little.
So there is not only Intel processors as “steal” points if I may say so.
It should be better if they had an average of points based from all computers as run the same WU.
If we say 6 computers are running and claimed different amount of points it should be:
Computer 1. 23.97
Computer 2. 12.65
Computer 3. 41.05
Computer 4. 6.09
Computer 5. 15.07
Computer 6. 5.08
Sum: 103.91: 6=17.32 to all.
In reality Computer 3 is first to upload a WU and claim 41.05 and earn 41.05 and all other claim 41.05 points. There play no role if they have lover points. They are them as win with Boinc current system. Another scenery is when computer 6 is first to upload claiming 5.08 and earning 5.08 and computer 1.2.3.4 and 5 earn 5.08 points. They are really the losers. If we had a system as I ponder of no one should get so low points as 3.78 for example.
Any perhaps say in the long run all will be even but if there is a lot of Intel’s and Linux computers I’m not sure on this reasoning. But if there is a majority of AMD`s things comes in another light.
Any comments or options to what I have introduced?
