Thanks for the compliments, I almost didn't notice this link. I am trying for 100,000 for the month of september. I may make it if I don't push my systems any harder. Last night I pushed to hard and the good old BSOD showed up! Oops ok back up, start over, move over, here we go, I am back and I am gonna quit tinkering on the speed dial!

This month truely is exciting to see our team come together and fight for First prize. At the end of this months tally, 3 more people will attain the level of 100,000 points and above, including myself (if nothing breaks).
We currently have 9 in the top 100, with Lagu working on that level faster then a speeding bullet.
There are 29 out of 46 active crunchers in our team effort. W O W !

I find it hard these days to hit even 10,000 points, let alone 100,000. The most credit i have for one project is BBC CCE and at most i think i will only get 50,000 points once i end this model.

I need more machines, i just don't have enough space :icon_cry:

But it's not more machines we need - it is new machines.
Time to think about trading out the old for new.

Can't do that right now, no job at the moment so money is tight. I'm still going to hang fire for a machine upgrade till the quad core amd's come into play and then i will upgrade my main machine. Of course then my dual core will replace my amd 64 3200+. Double the number of cores :D

I'm scared... I'm real scared... Yalls output is crazy!!!! The Japan team ramped up the efforts a bit... We are still more than doubling thier output. We have still yet to break the 40,000 points in a day barrier... Maybe we can do it today. We are soooooo close to doing it. So if anybody has an extra machine, PLEASE run Tanpaku for just a few days until we pass Japan. Every little bit counts!!!!!

Overnight both Lunarcom and Zeppelin passed me, oh HI WAVE FIVE there Zeppelin, Keep up the good work, don't mind me. More tread marks on my forehead, and with lunarcom I have treadmarks across my back and I now can't see or find my toes!

On another thought I would like to congratulate the Team Effort, it is just amazing to see two days of consistent 39,000 points of output with a jump of some 25,000 points on the Japanese team each day. We are so close to being able to achieve our goal by the end of this month. An Acheivement we can all be proud of, has anyone been looking at the other forums out there? Has anyone noticed we are being talked about by the other Teams! Like on the WOW scale of a Team to be reckoned with, a Team to be impressed with, A Team that works together! Thank You everyone! :blob3:

At this writing, there are 4 Team Members right in a row with RAC. They are in 5th Place Gatekeeper53/Terry, 6th Place BlackHeath, 7th Place Zeppelin, and 8th Place Beerknurd.

I am bringing up the rear with 15th place, Mitchell is in 17th Place and Maybach is in 34th with Lagu in 39th place. That is a total of 8 Team members in the top 40 places. Impressive...:3dblob4:

Thank You everyone, I am going to break the Predictor amount and we as a Team Effort are going to whoop the Japanese team in supposedly 1.77 days.
We are less then 40,000 points away now! Compared to 335,000 when I jumped in to the project that is alot of assertion that our Team has shown, I am very proud to be part this friendship we all have here on AMDusers. Thank You Again.

Nflight

That's exactly right there Beer, Overall last nights scores hurt us, you in particluar lost 600 points, Mitchell lost close to 1,500, and a few others lost plenty to make a huge dent in our super scoring of the past couple weeks. We are now down to just about 28,000 points each day, this compared to our glorious 36,000 for several days has put a lapse in our abilities to overcome the Japanese team as quickly as possible.

Please everyone working on the Tanpaku project don't leave us yet, we have to pass the Team and then maintain it. This to prove we are worthy! Keep pushing along everyone!

Take a look at this: I think we have Moderna hooked, especially with these numbers!

Thank You Andy. I have had to shut machines down on and off all day, It was either that or turn on the air conditioning. If I turn on the air at this time of year I think the neighbors might have me locked up. lol Resetting everything to stock speed just wasn't good eneugh, my 4800+ stayed at 65C most of the night so I took it down to 2.65GHz and it just came down to 64C. Now it's down to 2.4 and the side off the case. lol it's at 61 but it's happy at 61.

Congrats on the 100k Nflight Thanks Dave, And Lagu

Welcome back to the projct there Gamer007, we sure can use your help getting past our milestone by November1st.

Terry I noticed you mentioned removing the case cover to cool the computer even further. Did you know the case actually helps the system cool better by keeping the covers on. The particular arrangement of the holes throughout the case allow for air to flow adequately through the case to cool the system. With out the case cover on the air flow is stagnated and refuses to go down because air is not flowing over the sensititve areas to make the cpu cooler. If your going to over clock it is best to leave the case closed, elevate the case above the carpet on the floor and in an area where there is circulation capable. This does not mean that you need to be where air flows past it constantly but where it is not hidden and reduced to breathing its own air over and over. (Ok I said it the CPU needs to breath, fresh air of some kind is best, remember moisture holds heat better then dry air) Watch your humidty and keep it near or below 55% at all times. Cleaning of the dust that builds up from the excessive processing power is also critical, amazing that in one week the amount of static clinge that draws in the dust is just another 2 or 3 degrees of heat build up.

I am going to stop my rant here; comments - questions!

Beerknurd

Beer I noticed you have not pursued the switch to all one CPID yet?

I wanted to mention I had made a goal of myself to reach 5,000th place out of all Boinc Crunchers. Well that happened 2 days ago and with my huge numbers from Tanpaku I have already dipped near 4,880 and still dropping.

Oh yea since some of you have no clue how many people are out there crunching the nunbers of today are staggering. I am 4,884 out of 836,112 users, of course our leader is Chris Cicide as he approaches with 394th place.

I found my heating problem from yesterday. The problem is that I'm an idiot lol. I had my 4800+ running at around 2.8 and it got warm so I turned it down, the problems were comming from the extra voltage that I DIDN'T turn down. I turned down the DIMM voltage but not the vcore. All better now.

Gatekeeper, how are you cooling the 3500+. I am learning to overclock and am running at about 110% (2.42) with a temp of 49 C with the supplied heatsink. I want to beat some more milestones! I see that I have contributed a whopping .00003% to BOINC and want to get that to .00004% at least. :laughing11:

4054 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
13184 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

is what I am showing at the moment.

Nice Job Terry, I suppose the only thing left is to take over the number 1 spot sometime in the next few months?

Gatekeeper53, I am thinking about leaving the systems the way they are for now as I am really busy with my new project which just went live online about 40 minutes ago. So any IT work is pretty much behind me as I focus on this huge endeavor.. http://www.lverp.org take a look and tell me what you think. I am the soul technology Investigator for this. This while I participate heavily on the forums here at the AMDusers site.
I am asking if any one finds grammatical errors please pm me asap! the veiwing public is about 100,000 in the local area that this project effects. But I am looking to market the idea to the rest of the USA, effectively right now!
Best veiwed in IE not firefox.

What is it I read? Should we as soon as possible move our computers to another project and be a mayfly in the history of Tanpaku? Remember Neogens word: As soon as we are nr one all other will put us from the throne without mercy.

If we as is the leader no longer run Tanpaku other members do the same.
Say I´m wrong or have misunderstand the whole.

gatekeeper53
11-01-2006, 08:34 PM
No Mayfly but with about a 200,000 point lead we can have plenty of time to move back should someone take a run at us. I plan on leaveing a few systems here. It's just that with that kind of lead I want to help out our other teamates to advance their projects. And to be honest without buying a compiler and doing an update of the optimized client just for Tanpaku, I'm down to just tweaking my machines to run faster and I can do that on any project. If we drop below 100,000 lead we can always just ramp up our efforts again, that should give us 4 or 5 days at a time minimum to run other projects.

Nflight
11-01-2006, 08:45 PM
Lagu I am not leaving, you miss read my post. I am staying and not changin probably till I have time on my hands. I am staying till I have at least 200,000 points in tanpaku.

Hoping that the topic golems don't step too hard on me:

Nflight, I don't know about "top dollar" for the energy generated.

My understanding is that private/small electrical generators are only paid what it costs the large generators/distributors to actually generate the electricity. So, it it costs them .03/kWh to generate their electricity, that is all they will pay you. You don't get the amount that .08/kWh they sell the electricity for. Also there are a lot of start-up costs they don't tell you about. In some areas approval can take years.

All that said; one of the best things you have going for you is the "renewable" aspect of your energy generation. "Renerable energy" - of which biomass is listed as, is usually worth more due to the "green" credits which can be sold at a premium.

Your article doesn't state the capacity of the project, but 20 Megawats is the magical number when it comes to regulatory expectations. Larger generating facilities can be rather expensive to get approval for and to bring online.

If the generating facility is less than 20 MW there are new rules that came into effect on 26 August 2006. For more info:

LOL No problem I like it here. I got an old 2200+ running tonight. I love this KVM switch. I played a trick on my son last evening. I called him in here and told him I had discovered a new trick. I told him I found a way to run my computer without electricity. I had the 3700 up on my screen and reached over and shut down my 4800 (the only one ever hooked up to my main monitor) The look on his face was priceless. I run 4 systems off of one keyboard, mouse and monitor the KVM switch just makes things easy. I plan to add more and still have 4 openings in my kvm.

Oh ok...I just network all my PCs via wired LAN and then use remote desktop...looked at buying a KVM but I only really use one PC to work on the rest are crunchers...so it would be a waste for me:dontknow:

Not sure Andy I can't find anywhere I like as well as here. Found some I didn't like. I'm just not much on Math projects, nothing at all wrong with them just not my cup of tea. Oh and Murray all of mine are networked it's just that these 4 all all mine. The rest are at slightly different locations about the house. I have 4 on my desktop and room don't permit me 4 mice, monitors, or keyboards.

Cheers Terry.

I've hit the magic 200k now so am looking for another project to crunch on. Any suggestions?:dontknow:

We need a boost in two projects, I am hoping to find time after I too hit 200,000 to jump into Leiden Classical and or ufluids, each one is seeing less then any other project in WU's. The numbers are down seriously on Leiden Classical to an average of less then 100 per day. This is reducing our foot hold on DC-Vault, ufluids is also dragging our DC-Vault number in to the drink,
I understand that I may lose my first place position with the team in ufuids, but it is the Team that benefits. Send in the posse to improve our stats; The AMDUSers Posse!:2gunsfiring_v1:

I recon we should draw up a plan for our management of all BOINC projects...obviously people can cruch for whatever project they want, but it would be nice if there was a core group of AMD members who boosted projects, captured number 1 spots etc...

BY December 1st even without Beerknurd crunching we should be darn close to the 2,000,000 mark. That comes down to the fact we are doing 1,000,000 a month on this project now. Thats a lot of horsepower.
If we could only get the power house boys to divide up there horses to other proejcts we could take over the world if we try hard enough! Just a thought.

Thanks all. Well Andy you'll have to make sure they have good coats and I think they sell battery powered hairdryers lol. There is talk of this area's electric bills going up by 40% average. If that happens I doubt I'll be running all these systems anymore. It's in the state senate right now as they're in session. If it weren't for this school district being so good I'd move. But, last year the High School had a better than 90% rate of students that went on to college, and over 70% of those got some sort of scholarship.

Education is a very important thing, having the declaration in print that you have successfully achieved a schools academic criteria gives you clout. Without it your trying your damndest and getting no where fast. A School district with a success like your stating is hard to find, most days the children are shuffled out the door of the parents so the parents get to play for themselves. It is awesome that I Hear of such thought to the future of our children. I commend you Terry and I hope your children understand their father is doing the best for them when they get older to understand.

In order to lower my Electric Bill I have decided to invest in Servers only, no need for a box with all the gadgets if I am only going to use the CPU's and PCI-X slots! I personally would not mind a Cray but that is out of my league!

LOL I do run some things on it 3 or 4 days a week where I have to take it offline. I lose very little from it. I have some old contracts that I maintain from my days with McDonnell-Douglas. I'll keep tweaking them till they stop sending me the checks. It was nice getting into puters before anyone thought to have each employee sign away their rights to everything they wrote. I still have a few programs that fly on the F-15 and they still send me checks. I not in any hurry to see the F-22 take over.

As for Tanpaku and my contribution I would run this project for no points in a second. I think that Protein folding is the most important work being done today. I have a high reguard for the U of Tokyo and their people. I talked to Dr. Ando on the phone and am impressed with the way they are going at this and believe that they are the best bet on cures for many defects and sicknesses. If it weren't for this project I would be running Folding@home. Oh and wait till that cooler gets here and I can run this puppy above 2.51. I have seen others that can hit 3.0 and 3.1, I'm all set except the temp skyrockets at 2.6. The way it is it hovers at 60C at 2.51.

6 Sun 5500's (14 cpu's each)
4 Sun v890 (8 cpu each)
4 Sun v880's (8 cpu each)
4 sun 450's (4cpu each)

That 164 cpu's of SUN SPARC POWER

4 tbs of raid for storage & 1 Sun Tape cylo

Best of all, it was completely free. yep, thats right. Another government organization was closing their project, and I was at the right place and right time, so they just signed them over to my group.

Boy I wish I could run some DC on these puppies for break in.
