Hey, I just started this thread to keep track of our Malariacontrol.net ranking.

Right now, we are 4th for RAC, and 5th for total! not bad :icon_biggrin:

I'm about to come off this project once i hit 10,000 points. I was gonna start on WGC next to build up to 10,000 points but apprently ABC@Home needs some help in keeping our rank.

I am taking this quote from a "General Boinc Discussion" remark from Chris Cicide as he states the new power house he just added to the Malaria Project:

I'm about to have some real fun for about 1 month, maybe a little longer. We just installed 20 blades into our blade chassis last night that I'm bringing up now and sticking boinc on them. Unfortunately they are intel blades, but they are Intel Xeon 5150s @2.6GHz, dual-core, dual-procs. So I'm adding 80 procs worth of capacity. They'll slowly go away as the company needs them, but I don't think we'll touch them for at least a month

That will allow Evil-Dragon to help on ABC project and the numbers still rise on the Malaria Project as well. Keep up the good work there PcManiac !

Hey, does anyone from the (what did we call it?) you know the guys that all combine to help a project, want to help me get us back to #1 for Malariacontrol.net?
looks like SwissTeam.net is pushing about 4x the RAC right now, so if we all helped a bit, we might be able to pass them!

Anyone up for it?:)

I often wish I could have access to the computers in just ONE lab over here... how do you think ~1000 Opteron servers would do for this push? :icon_lol:

Did I mention that is just from 1 lab?

I hate to pay that electric bill...
Haha! no joke!
Now that I am living in at apartment, I am afraid to bring my desktop over... I think my future cruncher's will be laptops haha.

On another note, I wonder how many people can have a computer operating system like this?
Operating SystemMicrosoft Windows Vista
, Service Pack 1, v.267, (06.00.6001.00)

Just reached the 100k mark for Malaria, currently -since 09-09-2010- 12th on the list for AMD users, hope to reach the 11th place on 10-10-2010, unless sentient_life comes awake before that day.

Congrats on the 100k Dirk! :)

I hope someday to reach it, but I can't tell when... a guy like me that loves to try out every new project, but that has very little resources (only 2 PCs running) can't stretch in all directions. Hopefully MalariaControl will stick around for a long while to give me enough time to get there. :icon_lol:

Another milestone: after re-calculations, due to the credit-craze of last week, I suddenly find myself in the better part of the rankings: I passed the 1000-mark. I had none of the "super-credit WUs", so I did not lose credit as others have. Strange feeling, first dropping more than 100 places a day, despite giving more effort, and then suddenly gaining some 500 places.

That's strange... what's been going on at Malaria Control?

There has been a lot of Malaria WU that gave way too much credit (40,000 points for a WU, even some AMD users got some) and they decided to re-calculate all profit since way back when. I do Malaria since 11 Dec 2009, and at first went down some 100+ plces a day, when people with huge credits -accumulated in one or two WUs- soared past me. After I had dropped from #1000 to #1500 or so they did a rough first recalculation, and I found myself on #873 or so. Then They decided that it was not good, and went back to square one, and I was left with 63 credits and a #40,000 or so. Now I have almost all my credits back, at a reasonable level and at a reasonable position. The only thing wrong now is the ETC (Estimated Time of Completion) for the Malaria WUs, which I have to edit manually in my client_state.xml. I receive them now as 87.600,00 hour WUs, but complete them in 1.5 hour.

Congratulations to Meshmar!

He is the second (thanks Liuqyn) team member to hit the 1 million mark with MalariaControl@Home (after not-active-at-this-moment Chris Icide) and our present active leader in this project.

Congrats meshmar!
That was a long time coming AND it takes you inside the Project Top 100!
Very well done.
And I'm sure the project scientists appreciate the results too.

Thanks everyone. MalariaControl has been one of my pet projects for a long time. I don't have a lot of crunch, but I'm persistent. WCG gets most of what I have, but a few others get a trickle, too.
