I got this e-mail from Rytis at PrimeGrid today:

" Dear Primefinder,

Congratulations! Our records indicate that a computer registered to you has
found a unique prime number. This computer is running BOINC, is attached to
the PrimeGrid project, and is assigned to the Twin Prime Search. What makes
this prime unique is that it's large enough to enter the Top 5000 List in
The Largest Known Primes Database."

This was a pleasant surprise.

A Titan (http://primes.utm.edu/glossary/page.php?sort=TitanicPrime) is "In the mid 80's Samuel Yates began the list of "Largest Known Primes (http://primes.utm.edu/glossary/page.php/Prime.html)" and coined the name titanic prime for any prime with 1,000 or more decimal digits. He also called those who proved their primality titans"

cheers guys,

i think we could do with a bit more extra help on this project, currently we only have about 12 people crunching for us,

what i mean is would'nt it be nice for a member of our team to find the next worlds largest twin prime so come on guys even if its just a few work units per day it would also help boost our rank to position 5

As best as I can tell at the moment(im still checking ot out) there have been 8 primes found that are on the top 500 list that were found by members of our team Vaughan(3) Virus-X(3) jmblazek(1) and last but not least Evil-Dragon(1)

I'm pretty chuffed to be honest, feels like i've actually achieved something for once in a DC project.

I wish i could find the 10,000,000th prime in Gimps... i could do with £25,000 from the prize fund.

Congrats to all our prime finders! :)

Evil-Dragon... it's a bit harder, it's not the 10,000,000th prime they're looking for, it's a prime (any prime) 10,000,000 digits long or greater.
It'll probably be found this year or in 2008.

I know :(

I discovered this when i started running a WU and found it would take over a month on my X2 4200+

I think i'll stick with PrimeGrid primes for now. Still anit found another one yet, i guess it's just pot luck.

Ok it might very well be possible that i might just be double checking a prime found by someone else.. I hope i did find the prime though (wouldn't mind having 2 entries in the top 5000 prime database)

I guess i'll just have to wait and see if i get an email before jumping for joy.

I was just speaking to Scooter on YIM and found that he is the holder of 6 Primes. His latest came this morning with an email. Listed here: http://www.geocities.com/harvey563/GeneralizedWoodallPrimes.txt
You will find him after # 97.
The exact number is listed as: 24810*97^24810-1
Scooter states he has two machines working on Woodall Primes and 2 working on Prime Grid. His mind works in mysterious ways and he is fashioning or devising new formulas to figure out the best way to find these super large numbers.

Way to Go Scooter, Great Effort: :wav: :blob3: :wav:

Maybe a silly question, but how often are LLR WUs sent out? I requested more work and got more primegen ones.

Evil-Dragon
03-11-2007, 12:05 PM
They've either reached the end of the current 333333 llr or they are producing more WU's. You can check on the LLR search status.

vaughan
03-11-2007, 12:16 PM
Rytis posted this over at the PrimeGrid message boards:

"Gribozavr hasn't delivered sieved files. I asked him yesterday.

For now we are going to resort to crunching primegens and resent LLRs"

Evil-Dragon
03-12-2007, 05:41 PM
If anyone wanted to get some TPS WU's then now is your chance since loads of WU's have been added to the database.

Don't forget to tick "Run test applications?" in PrimeGrid preferences otherwise you'll just get normal primegen WU's.

Titan in another level is what Vaughan achieved today July 16, 2017, He hit the goal many of us will never see, he rolled over 2,000,000,000 points in Prime Grid. That to me is a Titan accomplishment. :blob3::wav::allhail: We can't over look Brucifier at 120,000,000 as well as Tweeder at 900,000 and Paul at 6,000,000. Keep up the good work everyone! :blob3:

Congrats vaughan! That is an impressive achievement indeed! :) I probably won't see those numbers any time in the near future.

But Primegrid is a brutal project that really shows how many Mega Crunchers are there out there... 2 Billion credits is still not enough to enter the top 20 even. :-(
