Everyone celebrate Pi day by putting at least one core on Pi Segment for the day. LOL

What a "Terryfic" idea, Gatekeeper53! ;)
I have 4 on it now, just for kicks.

Come on all you AMD users out there!
The Pi Segment project needs you.

If you have never contributed to a Distributed Computing project before this project is an excellent introduction.

This project has a short-term goal and the work is going fast so there's no time to waste if you would like to be part of this PI time-challenge.

If you are a veteran DC'er you won't want to miss out on this.

So simple too:

Download the client here (http://www.pisegment.net/project/projectpart.aspx)
The client helps you register your name.
Then use your new password to log into their project website and join up with all the other AMD Users giving PI a run for its digits, here ( http://www.pisegment.net/myaccount/joingroup.aspx)

You can catch your progress here (http://www.pisegment.net/stat/displaygroup.aspx?groupid=d4b98909-6f30-45ea-9487-8a9cc019a603)
or here (http://stats.free-dc.org/new/teamstats.php?proj=pi&team=AMD+Users)
(thanks bok!)
and watch the progress of the project here (http://www.pisegment.net/stat/globalstat.aspx)

WOW! Past 25% already!

What are you waiting for???

Welcome back gamer007!

Come one come all!

On this fine and glorious Pi Day, the PI Segment project appears to be celebrating just like it does every day!
With FREE WORK UNITS !!!
Woohoo! Imagine!

But make no mistake.
There is not an endless supply.
409,484 have already rushed out the door!
9,592 more are already signed for.
There are only 1,181,366 left and falling!
IT'S AMAZING!

So jump on in and get you PI Work Units fast before the stock runs out!!!

(See above for details on how to get involved)

-------------
Please note that at no time during this blatant promotion have any steak-knives been offered.
AMDave is also available for parties and pub crawls :)

Zepp is silent again today I hope he hasn't burned the house down. He said that he was having "power problems" and I can sure understand that with the pharm that he runs. I plan on putting a 100 amp service in the shed. The wife says that if I need more than that, I have to sell off the excess computers. lol I remember when me and my dad build our new house in 1963 we put in a 100 amp service and thought that we would never use hardly any of it. Of course that was when each house had only 1 tv, no cable box or dvd player, microwave, computers, coffee makers, rechargable batteries, or PS2's.

Thanks for the welcome!

I actually used to be part of the AMD Users team over a year ago, but since, I have been aiming my work to PrimeGrid and Twin prime Search. Since I use BOINCStats and I donate fairly regularly there (need that new server), I joined the BOINCStats team. Because of the lack of enthusiasm for the team, I may rejoin AMD Users. Regardless, my work will stay at PrimeGrid and TPS.

For now, I'm helping out with the Pi Segment project for you guys, because it was requested by somebody who helped me out a lot over at Twin Prime Search and PrimeGrid. I hope I can help you stay in 1st. :icon_mrgreen:

I'm helping. 'Cept I could do more PS work if I didn't have BOINC Primegrid running at the same time. :) I'm wanting to find a prime like others here did.

Pi Day Follow up:

There were several interesting events held to celebrate Pi Day.

Regardless of all of these I held my cap in hand for the fellowship and support of the mathematicians at JMU who amassed a whopping $180.00 for "future student lounge renovations" for their troubles last year in 2006
http://www.math.jmu.edu/newsletter/index.html#piday
Well done chaps. That probably just covered the cost of the clean up and the dry cleaning.
bMMr!

I hope this year, they priced the pi's at 5 bucks a throw
(deliberate puns intended. heh)
Looking forward to seeing this year's news letter.

BUT hey! There's more!
(No you don't get a free set of steak knives!)

The world of Mathematics has available yet another Pi-related celebratory occasion:
7/22 - It is called Pi Approximation Day
