Some ^&**%*)% woman took out a power pole down the road and my power spent 2 or 3 minutes going up and down. So far it looks like I've lost parts of 7 systems. I just got my main rig back and limping along, had to swap out the MB. 3 other 4800+'s are toast. 3700+ toast of course the 3500's and the 2200 are just fine %&*)(%^$($ Oh well it's got to be a better evening than the day has gone so far. What I want to know is how do you hit a power pole hard enugh to break it in half when the sun is shineing and the birds are singing? It's not even raining! No snow No ice nothing what an airhead. OH not to mention the 2 TV's and a cable box, and the girls stereo. Looks like I'm going to be a little busy for awhile.

Damn! Time to get some UPS/surge protectors.
Will your home insurance cover it?

If your insurance doesn't cover it, sue the arse of the dumb driver.

Spikey that was with GOOD surge protecters. These things just hate to bounce up and down even with norm voltage. It's an assortment MB's hd's mostly. My mistake was to have them set to come back on after a power outage, that'll chance from now on when the power fails it'll be a manual restart. I was getting gready not wanting to miss crunching if the power blinked during the night.
all new homes here are built with surge protectors, installed right before the breaker box. they too are not perfect, but they'll save your appliances,t.v.s, a/v equipment.

Geez, Nobody likes to see any appliance go up in smoke. I've had very few items go *puff* (knock on wood).
When I started collecting unused cpu's from people, I invested in a pair of apc 1400xl's just in case. I don't completly trust surge appliances (still use 'em, but plugged into the apc). We have 5-6 go south at werk every year.
I'll have to double check and make sure none of my cpu's are set to restart after power loss.

well, if you do get some money out of this, now is an excuse to upgrade a little ... still really sucks though!

Talking on her cellphone, while brushing her hair...
Actually we are just as bad. I saw a guy ploughing snow today, talking on a cell, and not looking while he backed up...into the street.
"But Officer, I had my beacon on, THEY should have seen ME."

Sometimes I think if we didn't make the cars so survivable we wouldn't act so stupid. You can't idiot proof anything because it just causes more idiots.

I'm above ground it is going my way! A few machines is no big deal, shoot the part I like best is building or fixing them. Life is good if all I have to gripe about are a bunch of machines that are just a hobby.

I'm with ya on that... I love to build - fix - tweak a system... That’s really all the fun to me...:)
