We need to decide which projects and in what order we'll run our next BOINC race.

Suggestions so far include these:

NanoHive@home

Proteins@home

PrimeGrid

Rectilinear Crossing Number

Sztaki

Tanpaku

Are there any other suggested projects?

Cool! A Boinc Championship 2007? :)

Suggestion: (Boinc) Riesel Sieve ?

I'm for all of the above (or below depending on your forum settings:icon_wink:)!

Should it be possible round of and end with D20L as number 11? Only asking and dreaming:)

I think we should run WCG for the next 30 years to see if we can get the #1 spot

I like WCG and Rosetta...... :)

Good point made there Big Whiskey. I wasted some hours on Sztaki too but not 330+ :icon_twisted:

OK, so far we have this list:
NanoHive@home
Proteins@home
PrimeGrid
Rectilinear Crossing Number
Tanpaku
Riesel Sieve
Neuron@home
WCG
Rosetta
and to finish up the non-BOINC D2OL

That's 10 projects at 1 week each. We'll be busy but it'll be worth it. :icon_lol:

Any other projects to add or is 10 enough?
What order?

EDIT:
For those running 64 bit Linux there are at least 2 projects - Riesel Sieve and ABC@Home that have native 64 bit applications for Linux. They appear to get much better daily output compared to the Windows 32 bit versions.

Perhaps we should add ABC@Home to the list and maybe Dnet or Grid to round out the contest to 12 weeks?

Regarding race choice...

NanoHive will probaby take too long with the pending credits
Protein gives you fixed points regardless (not sure if that is good or bad)

I've run Dnet a good bit and I love it but noticed not a lot of interest on this team.

I'm still running it.

I agree NanoHive is out of the disussion. They plan to shutoff the project in May for a while ? and if we build up a lot of WU´s as have either 3 or 7 quorum the risk is we not got all validated and we can run out of work.

Look at PoorBoys messages in the tread of NanoHive.

10 project is enough but we need another instead. Any as know the maximum of quota of each project allow us per day?

Proteins Max 100/day 2 quorums some delays werifying

PrimeGrid 800/day, 0 quorum

Rectilinear Crossing Number 1484/day, 0 quorum

Tanpaku 500/day 2 quorum

Neuron@Home 50/day 4 quorums same delay werifying
WCG No data. As I have seen we can choose run 4 different project. Should we chose a specific project and only run that project or all 4?

Rosetta 100/day 1 quorum enough because 1 computer perhaps finich 2/day and night

D20L 2000 WU´s in a rof takes about a month. A fast computer can run 500 a week.

I have no clue how long a WU takes running other project. Any comment to above data?:)

Xtremlab WUs are quick and the credits get granted really quickly, probably a good choice for racing!

Hey Guys, I think we should do Malariacontrol.net
we are in 4th right now, and that is a good one for the health of the world lol.

I second that choice from PcManiac, plus we will be able to give some help to Chris Icide and his powerful leadership in Malaria.

Neuron may not be good for the race... Neuron is in Beta and account creation is closed?? Does everyone have an account there???

Lagu

Not me. I have no account to PrimeGrid, MalariaControl, ExtremLab and Rectilinear. I´ve never run these project before. CPDN. It chould be nice run any of them and gets a new experience about the WU.:)

I would go for malaria control. I like the health causes.

I have an account at Neuron, have not done too much yet though. The project was open a few weeks ago that BJohannson mentioned and that is when I joined up.

NeoGen

I think we should race only on projects with open account creation.
I could think of a couple more restrictions to equalize everyone's opportunities in the race (for example, race projects should have at least both windows and linux clients), but in end of the day we all know that it is impossible to make a fully-guaranteed-equal-to-all race. :icon_rolleyes:

Ok... too much ranting already... I'll just vote for the open account creation only projects. :)

I have tried join PrimeGrid using my used E-mail and password but failed. I was thinking create a account before I joined but where can I do that. There is only "create or join a team" not "create an Account".

If it is a problem I agree with NeoGen. Perhaps they as already is an insider will lend us other their E-mail and password.

I will try again lather and see if it goes better. I perhaps have done somthing wrong.:)

Lagu,

You can join PrimeGrid through the Boinc Client.

Attach to project, and use this url http://www.primegrid.com/

I hope that works for you...

Neuron is out of work for the moment so I started PrimeGrid early...

Does PrimeGrid run out of work very often???

vaughan
04-17-2007, 12:41 PM
The server gets overloaded often as the tasks are very short - only a few minutes each on a fast P4. Athlons don't perform quite as well, A64s are OK.

Keep a day or two in your cache and you'll ride out the bumps in server availability.

Ok, this doesn't have Jack to do with any races, but I was wondering...

Is there a signature out there that displays both Boinc and non-Boinc projects?

Nflight
05-02-2007, 01:18 AM
To answer your question yes there is, It is: http://stats.free-dc.org/

The signature that I use !

Beerknurd

So when does the PrimeGrid race start??

Steve Lux

I have repeatedly tried to find the Free-DC stat signature, I have even created an account there, but have not been able to find it.

Beerknurd

http://stats.free-dc.org/statstool.php

Make sure you are logged into the forums.

To get your usernames for the different projects, find yourself in the free-dc stats. Click your name on each of the different proects.

For Example D2OL

http://stats.free-dc.org/new/userstats.php?proj=d2ol&name=Steve_Lux

that is the link to your Free-DC stats. On the stats sig you will enter Steve_Lux exactly as it shows in the above url after name=

Any questions just post them. Remember it is not the same for all projects.
