New BOINC project from Spain.

I have created the AMD Users team here:

http://zivis.bifi.unizar.es/team_display.php?teamid=76

The tasks are small about 3 minutes each on my Toshiba core duo T2300 1.66GHz laptop.

Zivis (http://zivis.bifi.unizar.es) home page here:

http://zivis.bifi.unizar.es

Translation to English here:

Update:
You need BOINC version 5.8 or higher
4/15/2007 9:02:50 PM|Zivis|Message from server: Need version 5.8 or higher of the BOINC core client. You have 5.5.

I joined ! I can not read Spanish very well, but I found joining through the [attach to project off my Boinc Manager] better then trying to translate the classic Spanish into American English slur.

The site is far to hard load. It takes "hours". Perhaps it goes better another time of the day.:)

Each work unit is anywhere from 46 seconds to 11 minutes long, but there is a lot of data produced in that short time, each work unit is nearly 500k minimum to be sent back to the server, some are nearing 2 meg files. Thats a lot of data in a short amount of time!

The disk usage is nearly 22 meg off your hard disk, far above the majority of projects I crunch. For those looking to put this on a stick, I don't know if you can do that?

It is Linux Friendly!

Yes that's the way. I joined via the BOINC Manager screen where it asks if you have an account or not. I selected the NO radio button, filled in username and password twice and followed through the sign-up process to team joining/(creation in my case). For the subsequent PCs (as long as they had the correct level of BOINC :icon_wink: and not my old Crunch3r's version) I just said YES and entered the required username and password info.

I didn't notice the massive size of the downloads at first because I was using Doomeva's ADSL2+ account with its superfast connection. :icon_redface:

I tried it on dial-up to see if it behaved and encountered the issue Lagu had. viz. unable to connect. It managed to allow that particular PC to join but the messgae in BOINC Manager was along the lines of "waiting to initialise".

My 1 WU crashed the moment it started.
Guess it doesn't like Vista just yet. Or maybe it's the BOINC beta I'm using.

EDIT: Just got some more. Looks to be working now. :)

My 1 WU crashed the moment it started.

Actually my first work unit ended with a computational error also, just hit the update and it was back loading a few more to crunch. been steady, but some of those finished are monster files.

This is kind of an interesting local (Zaragoza, Spain) project.

"Particles moving inside a stellarator fusion device, has been chosen as
the pilot application of the project."

At the conclusion of an initial start-up period (5 weeks after start-up?), the top 10 local townsfolk will win awards and recognition.

We need more of these....

I joined and have it running on my 4200+... We shall see how it goes... I may let it crunch over night.

This project locks my boinc client up... I even restarted and tried again.. I detached and ran Neuron again... It ran fine... Is this project doing anything like this to anyone else?? Maybe it has something to do with the huge file sizes...?? I went back to Neuron...

Fine for me, except for a couple of random WU crashes.

I have had 6 consecutive WU's fail, and each time it has crashed my BOINC Manager. I have stopped running this project for the time being. Back to Tanpaku full time!

You never know till you try.

After my reinstallation of XP due to an error on my AMD I choose the newest Boinc-client (beta) and it went to hell. When I ran NanoHive I had 2 crashes. I decide remove it and now I use version 5.4.11 without Crunch3r and this version runs without complications.
Sure the beta client is the cause why the WU erode out or cause another failure. I think it not has any to do with the large output.:icon_wink: :)

Somewhere in the project web site it clearly mentions the fact that the project only works with the Boinc 5.8.0 or above!

I've been meaning to try out the new boinc versions for a while, this was a perfect chance. :)

Guys!

I have put my old Athlon on Zivis because I want to test it when there is so chort WU´s. They have a range of 13 minutes to 0,32 seconds. Time to finich on this slow processor is 13 minutes.

If you have an old computer test it and watch what happen. Be avare my computer is an Athlon.:icon_thumright: If you have an Intel PIII take it but I´m not sure it will be finiched in 13 minutes.

But remember you must have XP on it.

I recommend strongly you test a slow computer.:icon_wink:

Good Bender10. Perhaps I can overtake your position?:icon_rolleyes: No only kidding. You should give us a large bost if you continue run it.

Any as have checked Zivis map? When we downloaded this project the file was at 22,95 MB. It contain 10 files with photos togeter 4,67 MB. Whitout these the file should be 18,28 MB.

You can remove them if you have little space.:)

I was only running a single X2 4200 box, You were catching me Lagu. :icon_wink: Go get em'.

I was just tired of seeing the "windows error" popping up 6 times every hour. The wu's must be a little quirky or something. I'll come back later maybe.

I went back to D2OL for a while, and I'd like to see a 100K lead for Tanpaku before race week.

Hello

Got this E-mail today.

El equipo de Zivis.
very fast translation: 1) local issues. 2) scheduled maintenance stop Tuesday most probably, a couple hours. 3) Bugs in windows keep appearing at a 5% rate, mostly 0xC00000354.
