Since Nano-Hive is going to be out of work i took it off the list and put the top 3 voted projects in this poll. Hopefully we can get half the team on one project

In both PrimeGrid and Proteins we are in 5th position and with a little focus we can take 3rd easily.

In the case of Tanpaku we are in 1st but it is not a huge lead.

I voted for PrimeGrid but that's because I quite like Math projects. I'm prepared to run what the team decides so long as it isn't like the Friday 13th fizzer. :icon_twisted:

I vote for PrimeGrid too because I want a project I never have run before:icon_wink:

Not saying I don't like it. Just can't make an account to run it.

You can join PrimeGrid when you go through the Boinc Client itself. The website says account creation is open. It seems as if most Boinc applications are making account creation available only if you go through the client...

I said PrimeGrid because I have been running it with NanoHive, and with it gone, I don't really have any priorities [besides DepSpid, but it's not CPU-intensive]. I'll be on PrimeGrid because I want at least 1 prime. :P

I had been crunching the Primegen WUs. It took me a while to realize that you don't find primes with those. Just in case you hadn't done so already, you have to go into your account and edit your Primegrid preferences. Then say that yes to running test applications. Then you will get the LLR WUs. :icon_mrgreen:

Thanks JL I didn't know that. And of course I would love to find at least one of Vaughan's lawn ornaments. lol

:icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen:

lol, so would I.

How did you know that I haven't mown the grass for weeks. My wife says she can make crop circles in the lawn when she hangs out the washing. Even today I worked out why they have a winding mechanism on the Hills Hoist. Its so the towels don't catch in the long grass. :icon_wink:

Hi All!
Been away for a while but it is good to be back and I am looking forward to the Primegrid Crunch-a-thon!

When will it start?

Hey Vaughan I was just guessing. lol I had to mow mine today for the first time this year. I hate that the stuff grows. My neighbor is always telling me how to fertilize and water so it will look better. Better hell! I hate the thought that it will grow faster. If it would just die I could have it gone over with blacktop and painted green.

I bet if these could run BOINC (and no I haven't checked - yet!) then Vaughan would have a dozen of them keeping his grass tip-top! :icon_wink:

Boinc or not I have been thinking about 2 of those for the lawn. There's a guy in town selling them. And I reallllly hate to mow. lol

google some anti-grass growing products. I know they make something to stop hedges growing.

One of these should do the trick...

Now look what we've done - sent the whole thread off course and onto lawn!

We could make the sheep a member and pass him around during the summer months to sort all our lawns out! :icon_lol: ...not sure what we'd call him though ..."Cruncher"?:icon_lol:

Welcome back Murray, as for the race I believe the race is intended to start somewhere in the middle of May and run for about two months. I will not be able to participate in the race so that is why I have withdrawn from posting a selection on the Poll.

PG doesn't have a Linux client. So, I won't be able to run my Linux machine on it.....:(:-(:-(.....

With the current Computation Error problems in Riesel Sieve I'm switching what I can to PrimeGrid.

I guess these are the pre-race warm up laps. :icon_wink:

I hope that the PG server will withstand the might of our green machines.

When are we going to start PG?

vaughan
04-19-2007, 04:24 AM
The race will start mid May but you can always start some warmup laps. There's new BOINC versions to try, see if any of the optimised clients work, check what the best BOINC settings are (JMBlazek posted some good points).

I wish PrimeGrid had a linux app :(

By the way, LLR tests are about 7 mins on a X2 4200+ just in case anyone wanted to know the running times of WU's

BOINC 5.8.16 is the latest version. No one should still be using 5.5.0 but if you are then please upgrade since a lot of projects need the extra information that the 5.8.X versions can provide to them.

Beta 5.9.4 is out, which is what I'm using. I believe Vaughan wanted a way for BOINC to rearrange projects based on how someone want's it. 5.9.4 lets you do that by alphabetical, credits, etc. And resizing tabs don't crash BOINC anymore. :)
