If you're just after points then try one of the test projects like xtremlab.

Xtremelab gets the same points for older machines as faster machines so using older rigs will net you lots of points. If you have brand new rig or rigs, use
tanpaku or something.

Though I prefer Climate Prediction as every PC will get the same amount of points but in a differeing time. Long WU times but it trickles data. My 3200XP could get 2 trickles done a day (about 1 every 7 hours) and IIRC trickles were about 75 points each. Possibly more.

ABC@Home gives pretty good points per day.
Riesel Sieve gives the same regardless of BOINC version so the optimised clients have no boost effect. You get extra points if you find a factor.
