It means either the email has not been sent out yet OR more likely, you are the doublechecker.

All primes are doublechecked...but only the original finder receives the email and thus, credit in the Top 5000 database.

Does it mean your a double checker? Or does it mean that it just didn't make the Top 5000??

As of today, Primes for TPS are entering at position 3394. Here are the stats on the latest prime submission:

Rank 3394
Prime 6492216549*2^333333-1
Digits 100,354

Since k is increasing (k*2^333333 - 1) all new primes will enter above this...pushing the rest down, and eventually off the Top 5000 list. For k*2^333333 - 1 to no longer be on the list, 1606 higher primes need to be submitted. This will take a while.

I think i will aim towards trying to find Riesel Sieve primes now that i've got myself a few under PrimeGrid. I know that RS primes will take a VERY VERY long time to find but i'm willing to try and find one.

Congrats Björn! :)

I've taken note of your proof code, so when I have some free time I'll add you (and the rest of you lot as well) to our wiki page. Vaughan, spjeff69 and Scooter are so far the only ones there, but more will come. :)

Other than getting a email from the project, is there anyway other than looking through all of the results to know if one has found one of these easter eggs? I'm up to around 65k now, and no eggs for me yet that I know of.

Beerknurd

Hey mitchell... You have to be running the test applications in order to find Primes.

Go to your account, click on PrimeGrid preferences, and then make sure that run test applications is set to yes.

If you select yes, the WU's are shorter, but you only get 1.25 credits per completed WU. If you run the PrimeGen WU's, they are longer but give you more credit.

I am only running test applications (LLR). I wonder if my score would be higher per day if I stopped looking for Primes and only did the PrimeGen WU's??? The PrimeGen WU's take 2x as long, so it probably wouldn't be that big of a difference... Hmmmm

mitchellds
05-30-2007, 01:24 AM
Ah, I didnt know that. Thanks Beer ! With that explanation in mind, I think I'll just keep running the Primegen WU's for more credit. What is the reasoning that you have to run the test apps to find the primes in lieu of the regular WU's?

PrimeGrid does not have application selection yet...so in order to run both projects, Rytis put TPS under the testing option. Right now you can run only one or the other...unless you use location to separate your computers.

Primegen is looking for relatively small primes to build a sequential prime database. TPS is looking for very large twin primes. A byproduct of the search are very large single primes...which is what people here are finding and reporting to the Top 5000 Primes Database.

If you select yes, the WU's are shorter, but you only get 1.25 credits per completed WU. If you run the PrimeGen WU's, they are longer but give you more credit.

You should baseline each project on each computer. Certain cpu's earn more credit on each project. Some of the C2D's can earn as much as 50% more credit running TPS while some of the lower end AMD's do better with primegen.

You really should look at each computer and make a decision from there.

For example, on your X2 4200+, I took a sampe of 5 WU's each of primegen and TPS. Here's the average...primegen 10.96 credits/hr; TPS 11.55credits/hr. I did the same for your Intel 2.80GHz...primegen 11.35 credits/hr; TPS 14.75 credits/hr. Results on your 1.8 are still pending...but I suspect it will be better for primegen WU's.

To maximize credit, find which computers do better on primegen and which do better on TPS, then assign them to different locations (home, work, school). For example, all your primegen computers can be assigned to home and run regular WU's while all your TPS computers can be assigned to work and run WU's from "test applications" TPS.

I hope this helps.

Yes.

If you decide to run test applications, then you'll be doing TPS WU's. If you happen to find a prime, an email should be sent to you.

Also, you will notice at the bottom of your accounts page a new section titled "unreported primes". From there you can follow the instructions on how to report it...they are the same as the ones in the email.

Thanks for the help. Last night I switched everything over to Primegen to see if there was a difference. All I can report now is that I have 4x the pending credit and my score for the day is not near as high as it normally is running LLR only. I think the Primegen WU's take longer to hit the quorum.

Scooter found a BIG ONE..... In fact it is rated as the top partitioned prime at his moment in time. Check out #1

I was just chatting with him on YIM...... !!!!!!!! He has been away this last week or so. What a reward to come back to #1 ! :blob3: :blob3: :blob3:
