I have a Trend NET router. If I try to clone the MAC adresse my network stop working. I think it is the modem adresse into the computer as is changed or am I wrong?

I use Dynamic settings and use my Intel and have shoosen the "Gateway act as a DHPC-server". The DHPC List chows only 1 adresse. I have 4 computers added to the router but they chows not in the list. But all works and I can reach Internet on all 4. Should I unclick "Act as a DHPC-server" or is all normal? Perhaps if I uncheck it all will chow up but should it be any difference yet?

I have settings as require passwords from my Provider and I have talked to them and they said I not need this configuration as require a password. I use not a Proxy only a common DSN to my Internet.

What is you others experience?

You need to do it through the wired connection NOT wireless. If you want the MAC address of your device, go to the command prompt and type "getmac" - Windows XP Pro (not home)

As for DHCP, you don't need a DHCP server for that few computers.

If you're DSL you DO need to enter your phone number of the provider, but they use your phone number the traffic comes from to authenticate. However, some do need the username and password - it depends on whether or not the router has a built in modem.

Lagu, routers really aren't my thing but with my router if you use your IE and type in address " http://192.168.0.1 " into the URL address box it will open the router set-up wizard... Just a thought...

Was a specific PC used to setup your connection with your provider? If so, then they may have tied your account to the MAC in that PC. You can use "ipconfig /all" on that PC to get the MAC address and try cloning it in your router.

woahhh there!

The MAC address is the unique identity of the NIC, you can change it on your PC but I would not recommmend this and don't whatever you do try and clone it and configure another PC with the same MAC as they will contend each other on the network and fail!

DHCP issues dynamic IP addresses to devices on your network, as long as all your machines are asking for dynamic IP then you're fine. If however you want to have fixed IP then you need to manually enter an IP address (based on the subnet number you're using) on each PC and turn DHCP off at the router and then register each address with the router (a bit of a pain but generally more secure - not really needed in a closed environment though like a home network).

Puh! (Swedish for when we breath out after a sweaty period)

I think I will chare this with you if you got any problems with your router. We have always anything to learn.

I have lost 3 days of crunching on Zivis. It began on Friday when Boinc message showed their server was down but it wasn’t but I notice that first yesterday. Internet worked fine on PC1, PC2, PC3 and PC4. However PC1-PC3 couldn’t reach Zivis homepage. PC4 was the only as got work and could upload. Yesterday I tried use PC4 and could reach their homepage. What? Lather PC4 showed it was a conflict with the NET and I decide shout all PC´s off and also the modem and router and wait 10 minutes. Then I started the modem and router and all PC´s . I went to PC4 and started Boinc but now it was the same failure as the other. Boinc said the project may be temporarily down.? How can Boinc say that and it was wrong? Better not say anything and avoid peoples get swindled.

Now I had 3 PC´s as not could run Zivis. MoneyBee ran smoothly on PC3. I opened the Internet and went to the TRENDnets settings page and restored the router to factory settings but it didn’t become reset. The bulbs should die down and after a few seconds they should turn on its lights but that didn’t happen. This router has worked hard running Majestis-12. I don’t think it is something wrong with it. It need a rest.:icon_lol:

At least I lost the connection because the DHPC settings failed and was wrong but I got it going again. But Boinc didn’t work yet.:BangHead: Boinc told me there was no connection chosen. I had to choose among HTTP Proxy or SOCKS Proxy but I use only the common HTTP prefix. Tried Recovery the project but it was not to any help. Right clicked on the icon as showed the settings for local Network and there I discovered I had wrong IP as began on 81 instead for 192. The hours went away and it too late so I started MoneyBee on all computers and went to bed.:new_sleeping: Before I had run 50 D20L WU´s.

Today I tried the modem only and got Boinc running and I got a lot of work more than when I use the router. I shouted all PC´s, modem and router down and change to D-Link 604 router as I have lying in a box. Then I first fired up the router and waited for it to settle down, then the router and last PC1 and voila it worked. The gateway icon showed up. Then I went to D-links settings page and configured datum, daylight saving, time zone and choose Dynamic IP address and the router restarted and saved my settings. Then I fired up PC2-PC4 and now all computers have flawless connection.

Remember, first fire up your modem and when the WAN lamp begin blink, start your modem and let it fire up orderly. After that start our head computer and check all is OK and configure your router. Then start up all other computers. It is a waste of time discover it didn’t work and then again shout all computers down.

But I cant understand why I got 12 WU´s when I have TRENDnet router and 124 without? Lets se if I got more WU´s using D-Link. My settings is 0,1 day.

Any as have experience of that and how solve it?:)
