Whats the explanation for why points in the WGC stats dont match what Boinc reports as points?

In the WGC stats I show 137590 points

In Boinc I show 21282 credits

WCG uses two clients, Boinc and UD agent, which have different point systems. Since they originally used UD agent only, they needed a way to even up the points for people running Boinc, so they multiply each Boinc point by 7 to make it equitable for all users.

I'll add from what I have read in the forums and other avenues too. The UD agent is only capable of running one instance on a dual core computer. While Boinc is capable of running two instances on on a dual core computer very easily. It is also better to use the Boinc over the UD agent because the Agent throttles down, so only 60% of the capability of the machine is used. Allowing other less sensitive Programs to run efficiently without causing crashing of the OS and similar. I would have whined about my 3 months on the UD agent had I not had the comfort of also being able to run eOn, Dimes, and a few other small programs while I ran the UD Agent. Now I have a problem running Boinc and those other projects. But the Boinc is putting out some serious crunching of WCG, and after reading over the forums I find that the Boinc is running 95% all the time on this setting.
I suppose the best way to find the answers is to read the forums, just remember this is one of the biggest Project membership Projects on the planet there are over 300,000 people crunching at anyone time. Lots of posts, lots of dribble to scour through, take your time, don't get frustrated you will find what your looking for eventually. :icon_rolleyes:

I use their platform not Boinc and it is as many say it the agent only 60% but it has its advantage because I can run eOn as sometimes use much recourses. When e0n not zzzzz I have 100% usage. It is impossible do that if I run D2OL on a single core processor. eOn begin to stall.

This is interesting:
By comparison between an Intel P4 1,5 GHz with my AMD Athlon 64, 3200+ but they use a computer as not is representative today.

Intel has 100 in every category.
Me overall: 197
Prosessor: 228
Memory: 267
Storage: 196
Network: 100 whish is equal.

As we can see AMD Athlon has more than double processor capacity. :)

Bubben, thanks for the link. Interesting. Are you using this tool? I read it has a slid as one can set the percentage. My Athlon 64 is always little warmer when running hard. I feel on the case today and it is lesser warm running 60 %. But I beleive I can shoose persentage and run it at 75-80. Is that right?:icon_wink:

I was using the tool before i changed to Boinc when i bought my new computer and it worked just fine for me.

Yes..you can choose between 0-10-20...70-80-90-100%

But i canĀ“t garantee that it will work for everyone so use it on your own risk.

(My computer has a automatic "shutdown" if my cpu becomes to hot/warm.)
