Suggestion if I may? For those who have bandwidth and storage.... perhaps grabbing the full network-admin version of SP1 / SP1a before it's gone is a good safeguard in case SP2 is messed up????

I am going to grab it (134 mb)... hollar if anyone needs it will be available by early Sat AM UTC ( morning US EST )

Jeff,

Thanks, I will grab SP1 & SP1a now .... and start searching for SP2...

I will post the URL when I find it.... I bet it will be on the MS site, or in the add-list (which posts automatically) before COB Pacific today (it's now 4:30pm PST)

I will also grab both express and full versions of SP2 and post the URLs for direct access from my web site.

Thanks Chuck!

Ok Jeff.. I got both versions of SP1 alll set here and ready to push to the web page....

The links about deployment of SP2 in the corporate world were just updated.....

I expect SP2 any moment now and will grab it........

I do have auto-update turned on to let me know if it starts coming down.

I suggest everyone (given the countries and multiple distributions involved) turn on auto-update for this one.... it is HUGE and some 100 million PCs are going to get it..... I know historically that auto-update gets things even when the web site is overloaded... you just might end up getting SP2 quicker that way.... It's up to each user... it is a HUGE download.

Well,
It is sp1a FULL.... you could do express and deal with a 300MB sp2

As for speed... did you make a phone call and fix your service????

I'm a dumbass... I don't know what to ask........

ask what your current subscription is and ask why you are seeing the speeds you are.... AND... that you heard there is a newer/faster cheaper service.

make sure you get the most for your money

They said the upgrade could take up to 10 business days.... I'll wait a few days and test my speed again....

figures.....

just like my luck.... drive down the street and find myself as a 'drive by extra' in a movie...... No idea which one.... Gonna hae to wait for a movie with a Gold Lexun w/ Jersey plates........ the ' Old Brown Volvo w/ PA plates ' driving by is me....... unless they cut it like everything else outside the car and put the car in 'digital Jersey' :)

Well that's cool.....

it'll be 'cool' if I see myself... but I will tell you this... it sheds a whole new light on how they make movies..... they control everything, fake everything, i bet they would use computer animated actors if they could!

Beerknurd

Computer animated actors.... That animation. Shrek is a good example. Pretty soon it will all be animated people.

Computer animated actors.... That animation. Shrek is a good example. Pretty soon it will all be animated people.

that's what i meant.... nothing will be real... not even Tom Cruise, etc..... but then in Hollywood & Melrose (that whole side of the canyon).... I've learned nobody is real anyway

Beerknurd

Tom Cruise and Bradd Pitt could disappear from the earth. They make normal guys look bad.......

Tom Cruise and Bradd Pitt could disappear from the earth. They make normal guys look bad.......

please...... it was an exxample.... I could sit here and name all the side streets off of Highland Drive and the back streets of Melrose.....

Could even tell you I knocked Matt Damon over in a club.... nothing matters.

Just saying... back to the original point.... it's all so fake.. and getting worse... at current rate... it will pass the point of believability before long.

Where i would like this to go... is that if they can do that with tightly coupled processors..... HOW can we make the same happen with loosly coupled processors? that is the ttrick.... and that is what I would like to see in the end... and DC is step 1... proof of concept simultaneously benfiting a cause.

OK guys,

Sp2 installed without any errors/problems. Total time taken on AMD 2000
just under 11 minutes, then a re-boot and a couple of questions about the new firewall and auto-updating features.

All apps are still working. Jobs a good 'un.

Go for it.

Does network install work as download for single pc? I noticed they said for multiple pcs only, and wasn't sure if installed any differently.

I didn't dare install it as I use Outlook XP and it was on the list of applications that MicroSoft said were affected adversely by SP2.

I don't get it... I downloaded SP2, intalled it. Didn't reboot for like a week. Finally rebooted, thought I had it. Went to Windows website, it told me I didn't have and said that it wasn't available yet and tried to get me to turn on windows update.......

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Windows sucks...... Anyone got a Linux CD I can borrow...????

Beerknurd
08-26-2004, 11:39 PM
Finally installed SP2, again...... Nothing bad has happened yet. Except in outlook express, when I get an email with graphics I have to ok them. I'll figure out how to turn it off sooner or later... Is there any other problems I should be looking for????

jlangner
08-27-2004, 02:38 AM
I haven't had any - The thing with the pics on email is supposed to help reduce spam. Supposedly when the email downloads the pics from the server that lets spam sender know it is a valid address. I think you can tell it which ones are "safe". Otherwise only issue I noticed, which maybe good I guess, is you can not send .exe files or recieve them by outlook or ms messenger. Zipped files are ok though.

Beerknurd
08-27-2004, 02:44 AM
Well I'm sure something will come up sooner or later.
