That was a really well story-boarded presentation I thought.

I remember dreaming of owning a Scimitar GTE SE5 when I was growing up after getting a really good look at a brand new one when I was a kid. By the time I was old enough to drive I knew I could never afford it (they stopped making them - they never made many of them as it turns out) and by then there were much nicer cars about for much less.

This isn't a Vehicle from the 50's or 60's but it's something I've been messing around with for about 10 years now, it still isn't finished and probably never will be. It's a 1978 GMC Pickup so in 2008 it will be considered a Classic I guess ... It's also the main reason I go by the Alias of PoorBoy ...:)

I've seen that Movie some time ago or at least most of it anyway, but other than being kind of a goofy Si-Fi Movie I don't remember too much about it so I can't really answer that ... :icon_redface: ... :)

the car in the movie runs on nuclear power and when it leaves, it leaves burning rubber marks on the pavement:icon_lol: (as i think yours will do without a hiccup)

Spec's ... The Motor alone puts out 925HP & 850FPT, with the 300HP Nitrous Kit it makes over 1200HP & will go thru the 1/4 mile in less than 9 Seconds.

Actually it is conservatively built in a way, it will Cruise the Streets on 92-94 Octane Pump Gas all day long. At the Strip I will run the good 110-112 Octane Gas to help keep the Motor from coming apart ... :)

:icon_lol: ... Okay, I remember that part of the Movie now that you jogged my memory, I could kinda remember something blasting off in the Movie but couldn't put a finger on it. Maybe I should put a Nose Cone & Parachute on it in case it ever does Blast Off ... :icon_lol:

:icon_lol: ... Actually what I have isn't really the in thing anymore, now it's the Foreign Vehicles that a lot of the younger Kids get into & I can't blame them. Their Cheaper & go Faster than what it takes to build a good old fashion Hot Rod anymore, but it's what I grew up with so it's what interests me anyway ... :)

the skylines and supras are now the deal. rx7 as the odd one out. If i'd had the cash, I'dve bought a skyline, some dude imported one to belgium and sold it then, but i noticed that importing it myself is lots cheaper lol

...but in a pickup you can put a gaggle of girls in it and still have room for a couple of hay bales! (not sure they'd all still be there in 9secs though) ...try and do that in a rice rocket! :icon_wink:

Just had a look at this http://www.ssmoparmuscle.com/speedcomp.htm and the Porsche Carrera GT does the 1/4 mile in 11.2sec!

PoorBoy, lots of respect (and new tyres!):icon_thumright:

Well since I'm going on 63 in a few months I think my Gaggle of Girl Days are about over ... :icon_lol: ... And I doubt the little woman in my life would be too keen on the idea either. The Hay Bale idea might be doable though ... :icon_rolleyes: ... :icon_wink:

Want to see the car I drove in the 60/70's? Go to www.mountperry.com and look under the MyLittleTank tab. I think you'll find it interesting. A friend and myself decided to build an armored car on an old 1950 CJ3A frame. I drove it for several years and put over 150,000 miles on the thing. Last I saw of it it was in Bedford, New York on a used car lot, more than twenty five years after we built the thing.

Love the door latches! Genius! :)

The door latches were only part of it, did you notice the "moon roof" it was also 1/4 inch steel and rode on rails. I could stick my head up out of the moon roof and drive the car comfortably. I used to pull up to an intersection get out my binoculars and stick my head up out of it for a look around. It was a real attention grabber.
