View Full Version : Firefox Flash takeover by Quicktime

I was struggling to get into the forum's FlashChat for the last 48 hours.
On many web pages I was getting QuickTime logo's with question marks in them.
Stuffing around with the Quicktime Browser settings did not help.
Reinstalling QuickTime was not quick and just wasted time.

I eventually found the answer here (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=320838) in the heading:
"QuickTime 7.0 has registered itself as the Flash content handler"

I had to do the last bit "If the problem is not fixed after doing this, you'll need to remove pluginreg.dat from your profile folder (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder). If it still isn't fixed after doing that, remove npqt*.dll from your Firefox plugins folder."

It works instantly.
So if you have this rather confusing situation in future, perhaps you will recall this post and get out of it again in quick-time.

(Ahhh yes. The puns are definitely intended, hehe):icon_mrgreen:
