i just bought Doom3 and it wont work. well it kinda does but it flickers so bad when i face anything with lights on it in the game as to render it unplayable.
sys specs
AMD 2800+
Biostar M7NCD pro
1 gig PC3200
NVIDIA FX5200 256
Sound blaster Live digital
40 gig Maxtor 7200 spin rate
Win XP sp1
61.77 NVidia driver... i think thats the number...the new one released in july
updated sound card driver

if i don't face anything with brite lights on it in the game, its fine...like right in the beginning when ya walk up to the guy that says report to the center.but if i turn right and look at the door it flickers really bad. and the opening sequence tracking the ship i cant even see.
any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

I had a problem playing Black and White when it fisrt came out... I had to buy a new graphics card plus boost up the RAM. That worked for me...

What quality setting are you using? Also can you clarify what is happening? Does the flickering seem like just really poor frames per second or like there is a problem with the driver or card?

Try turning settings all the way down and see if ok, then gradually turn setting up till starts and that would be your max on that video card.

Ahhh, I see. Not to be down on your system but that 5200 is a pretty low end card for that game. I had bought one for a second computer I have and ended up taking it back and getting a 5700 which was about $60 more and I am sure glad that I did. But at least it gives you DX9 special effects. :D

ya i know the 5200 is low end ..........but i got it for 79$ see i aint really to much into gaming.Mosta the games i have are atleast 2 years old and they ROCK on a 256 meg card, even tho now its outta date

D2 is not a RPG game, not even a cRPG you are, I think, talking about. It's kinda of hack&slash game, not a big story behind it..

BG2 or IceWind Dale (1&2), Fallout series are all cRPG games (computer RPG)!

I suggest playing Fallout:Tactics, I loved it :]

I have alot of old school games I used to play on my Win 98 Comp... But none of them are compatible with XP.... :-( For example, Sim City 3000.

sure they are........go into properties and set em to run in win98 emulation..........mosta the games i have i have to do that.
And no rise of nations and empire earth are more along the Warcraft kinda games.

Hmmm, I'll try that once my wife gets off the good computer... This computer barely handles minesweeper... My wife started back to school today. Looks like i'll be stuck using the POS computer for a while..... :-(

This is addictive and you have to pay monthly which is a big turn off I know....but Planetside is an awfull lot of fun. It is a MMORPG. I have been playing it at least once a week since last June.

There are a lot of MMORPG's free, but they don't have great 3D graphics.. But you can get them for free and play with thousands of ppl from all over the world!
