I've really started to use RSS feeds now to be updated on when sites I like update (well sites and blogs)

Anyhow, I was wondering what software based solution people used?

Thunderbird is nice but I want to keep it for just mail. Briefly tried RSSOwl but it kept deleting messages. I want the previous messages to remain even after the RSS feed has updated and they've fallen off the feed.

Anyone got any ideas?

The only reader I've used is Google Reader. It's strictly internet-based with all the Google properties tying into each other under the same account. The articles don't "disappear" until after you've read it. I've got so many feeds on various topics that interest me, that it can be a little overwhelming to try to keep up. You can "star" an article to be able to return to an old posting.

I use Google Reader as well since my homepage is iGoogle. :) My only gripe about it is it seems slow at noticing new updates.

No use to me I'm afraid, though thanks for the recommendation.

I'm after a software based option. Though I don't know why... To read the feeds from the web, I gotta be connected so I can happily use the Google one:icon_lol:

Just I would prefer software based.

Have you tried Vienna? http://sourceforge.net/projects/vienna-rss or http://vienna-rss.sourceforge.net/vienna2.php

EDIT ^ It's for Mac OS X, my bad.

BTW - I use Thunderbird.
