I noticed that we didn't have a forum for this so I created one...

Cells@home is shutting down and the last WUs will be issued about 03/05/08. Looks like Danish Dynamite's project leader status will be preserved for all time, congrats. Dave.

I chunched a few Wu's on this, but not many. There are plenty more projects to get on with.

I can't believe they have to shut down already. They just started in late February! It was a pain in the "you know what" to get any workunits. You'd have to let the BOINC Mgr constantly ping their site to see if anything was available. I hate having to do that, and usually leave project like these suspended or 'no new work'. Hydrogen and Orbit are leaving a lot to be desired in this regard, too.

Same here, not enough work flow to make any sort of big push though, but the Wu's do seem to trickle on down every so often ... :)

hows the 64 bit credit on this project in comparison to others? To early to tell ?

It's not to bad, about 45 Per Core Per Hour for a low & about 50 Per Core Per Hour for a High on my Quads. Not as good as the True 64 Bit Applications Projects but not all that bad either for running a 32 Bit Application.

oops, my mistake, I meant to post my question in another thread for the 3x+1@home project, not this thread. Yes, I see this app is only windoze and 32 bit.

The 3x+1 Project's Credits are lower than the Cel's Project's Credits are whether your running 64-Bit or not. Problem is Cancer Research mustn't be that big a Priority for the amount of Wu's the Cel's Project puts out ... :icon_lol:

I can see DD in my High Beams but I can't run him down :icon_wink: Good job DD ... :)

Yeah in the Year 2047 @ the Rate the Wu's are flowing from the project ... :icon_lol: ... I don't plan on making any big move in this Project, in fact I was going to stop @ 10,000 but I got a few more Wu's so I figured I may as well go for 20,000 or 25,000 ... :icon_rolleyes:

But I may keep running as long as you can stay ahead of me until I close in behind you then I'll quit because I have bigger projects to defend my Turf in to devote to much Resource to some of these smaller projects ... :icon_twisted:

Sorry but nobody can join our team in the Cels@Home project because the site admin(s) over there haven't fixed their broken BOINC project. It has been reported to them since January this year and they haven't been bothered to fix it yet.

When I tried to enable Accept New Members in the Founders section, I get an error message:

Sometimes and that's the unfair bit. Some teams have more than one participant.

Sometimes and that's the unfair bit. Some teams have more than one participant.
Just checking the Top Teams page (http://celsathome.bme.utexas.edu/cels/top_teams.php), all teams either have 1 or 0 members. I believe the teams were created by importing from BOINC Wide Teams, so only the Founder is listed as a member. I tried joining the team, even manually editing the URL, but it will not work.

Also, is anyone else having really slow downloads of the tasks? If I leave it to boinc to get the input file, it takes several hours. So when I see one in the Transfer tab, I suspend network access, create a copy of client_state.xml, open it and copy/paste the url of the file into a download manager which only takes about 45-60 minutes to d/l the task. Then transfer the full input file into the project folder, re-enable the network access in boinc and it happily states file already exists.

I've only got 1 task so far, but it downloaded without any problem.

After trying to read the forums on the site, and having them not load, I ran some tests. It appears there is a malfunctioning router between me and the project. Entering a proxy into the browser and boinc changes the path and gives much better speed to the site.

Edit: Received a task and the d/l using proxy took 35 seconds.

Yes you're right BobCat13, my bad!

Is this project down or is my connection acting up again?

I can't get boinc or a browser to connect, proxy or sans proxy.
