Jeff
09-23-2004, 12:29 AM
lol, I hope you are kidding again.

Beerknurd
09-23-2004, 12:35 AM
Yes i'm kidding. But that would be funny to call dell tech support and ask. But it's not worth a 45 minute hold......

That's kinda like going to the Car Repair place and telling them that you blinker stoped working and if they could please fill up your blinker fluid....

Beer,

I don't suppose that your wife is gullible enough to believe that you have to replace the tower, or at the very least the motherboard to fix this issue? :-k
You know since the inputs for the keyboard plug directly into it this could be your golden chance, if you can just sell it :^o

Come to think of it I'm having similar issue with my laptop keyboard...only asterisks for passwords that is. The possibilities are endless

:sigh: Tried it about the laptop...It didn't work...

What about you Beer?

replacing the motherboard is such a pain tho as then the HD wont like it and it take forever to do a windows recovery

ototero -- i downloaded that program and it works but doesnt recognise my current partitions on the 2nd drive, it is great on the 1st seeing there is a C: and D: but cant see G:, H: and I: on the second. it isnt a problem as i have deleted / moved the current content but was hoping it would recognise the lot. im gonna clone this evening so i'll post results and / or errors later lol :P

DMMc

See that's just a good reason to get a new HD then...something in the 250-300 gig range is nice.
That if if you partition it right and ONLY put the OS on the C then recovery is easier the next time.

Hard Drives are sooo cheap now days.... Might as well get a 400 GB.

Empty_5oul
10-05-2004, 04:52 PM
i would but i only just bought my 160 sata's, online i could pick up some new ide ones dirt cheap but then my satas are faster and i dont need that much space, 100G is enough for me easy - i can always get a USB2 HD and use that

I suppose 8 120gig HDs of media files is a sign of a problem....or an addiction...maybe :5headset:

Beerknurd
10-06-2004, 11:01 PM
Goodness ..... I'd say you have a slight addiction.... LOL.

I thought about getting a second HD just for MP3's. Before I had to reformat my hard draive I had almost 13 Gig's of MP3's on my computer....

It made my sick having to reformat it..... A Second hard draive would have been awesome... Even if all you use it for is backup.

To be honest only 1 of them is MP3s. The others are Vids :happy1:

Jeff,

I am getting a series of 3 to 10 in-page-error messages at the top of the forum pages only:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/amduser/public_html/themes/amdusers/theme.php:202) in /home/amduser/public_html/includes/sessions.php on line xxx

It started around the time the site was upgraded but I also think my instance of Firefox 1.0 is stuffed because I am also getting rendering errors as well and they don't show up all the time in IE.

I am going to dump this install of Firefox tomorrow and re-download & install it again and see how I go.

AMDave

Jeff,

I know you said there was a code error and I don't know if you have been working on it, but my error messages have allgone.

Last night I'd had an absolute gut-ful of "holes-in-walls". The next person that asks me anything (family / friends) about windows is going to get ignored...unless they pay me. I recompiled the LinModem driver and got my primary Linux install talking to the net. :D

"holes-in-walls" is dead, long live Open Source !
Oh it is good to be back. ...like slipping into a warm sleeping bag with your girlfriend.

The first thing I noticed is that all those browser errors are gone (same version of firefox - haha can't test IE - shame about that - NOT !) So are my LAN problems. It is so much more responsive and for some reason the downloads are definitely faster. My LAN file transfers are now almost instantaneous. Oh how I have missed this. From now and forever - no more hardware that won't work on Linux - stupid mistake.

I will have finished cutting my whole network over to Linux (ah - bliss) in an hour or so. I'm still annoyed that I have to keep 1 "holes-in-walls" install on a disk for my son's win-games and my connection to work. Just have to live with it for the moment, but at least it won't EVER be connected to the interet again.

My DC production is down a bit for the moment, but I know the investment is worth it.

When I have log in I click on a topic for to write a reply, the side automatically changed to the log in side under your account. I must do a log in again but fail to go in. I click on “home” and my avatar has been “removed”. I restarted Internet and got back to AMD users. Now was my avatar there again without I have log out. I tried to log in several times and lather I see I was OFFLINE whole times. It was hopeless to get in. When I log out it works not properly. I get a message that says, “ You are now logged out”. However it seems as “log out” fail to work. Next time I open AMD users my avatar shows there. I tried to go in and send a replay but it change again to the log in side there I ounce should loge in. I tried it but it goes to hell to get in. Restarted Internet does a log in and goes to a topic, open it and should try to write a reply. The same moment as I has described happen again. Couldn’t do anything such send a email to you or write a message in the forum. I gave up and E-mailed Vaughan and Meckano because I have theirs private E-mail address. I hope to get an answer from them and ask if they also had this or another problem. Got answer from Meckano 1,30 o’clock tonight that Meckano say it works well for him. I was thinking that I have been Persona Non Grata.
Lagu :? :?:

Edit: Forgotten to say this message is created on another computer on my job

Thanks for posting this but, I haven't E-mailed Spjeff. I couldn't. I have E-mailed you and Vaughan. I don't have Spjeffs private E-mail address.

Haj Lagu!

You are not P-N-G. Maybe there is a cookie problem.
Sometimes the browser drops people out of the forum.
I think there was a solution, but I cannot remember.

Jeff and Vaughan know better than me.
They will be able to help when they log on later.

AMDave.

i have had similar problems with logging in but only on certain machines - and that only seems to be when i am logged on at home with a browser open.

dave - i can't see how the cookies would affect it.

AMDave
03-24-2005, 10:04 AM
dunno. Just guessing (badly).
I never had the problem, even when others did.
I only had similar behaviour when I locked up my account.
Thats why I deferred to our admins.

Lagu

Spjeff!

The problem is solved. It was my firewall as lurk me. I closed the firewall and log in and it works. I got a online status. Then I started my firewall again and all sems good.

Is it just me or does the Start Page of amdusers.com really uses that massiv amount of resources?? I am using an AMD phenom XII 940, firefox 3.6.3 and the average cpu usage on the front page is about 25%(meaning one whole core!!). All other sites showed a normal behavior cpu-wise.
Is it my setup (meaning a missing plug in or something like that) or is it the rendering?
Anybody experiencing the same?

greetings vel.
P.S.: i know it is not really an error, but i thought it kind of fits here...

Edit: when i scroll down, so that the main logo disapears, the usage instantly goes down....
It seems to be the big banner on the top.

NeoGen

Yup, I have the same issue too, as well as others. Seems the flash banner does some heavy duty processing to render the animation.
We already alerted Jeff to it, he should be able to work out something.

I'll have to get with my graphics guy to see what can be done.

I try to edit my signature with IE 9 and Opera... but in both browsers is see the same... no chance to save changes..

AMDave
11-03-2011, 03:06 PM
Yes. You are correct.
The message edit panel does not work properly in those IE9 compatibility mode, or Opera, or Arora, or Midori, or links, or elinks.
The white message pane renders over the top of the controls.
It is a javascript issue with a vBulletin plugin.
Please use Firefox or Chrome or Chromium or Epiphany or Seamonkey all of which I have tested as working.

chris
11-03-2011, 05:20 PM
Hmmm, install a new browser only to edit my signature ???
Maybe i find a computer were this stuff is installed... but not on my machine... Opera is enough :)

AMDave
11-04-2011, 09:21 AM
Ok. It is now working in IE9 in both IE9 mode and in IE9 compatibility mode.

However Opera (current version) craps itself over the -moz and -webkit prefixes in the CSS and flips out when it tries to render the page.
Lots of page elements fail to appear.
Opera thinks there are over 1800 errors on the page.

It appears to be a problem with Opera.
All other browsers are working.

chris
11-04-2011, 10:46 AM
I just make it with Chrome...
I have no other problems with Opera :)

If i click Personal Stats Boinc at Stats my Firefox crashes :icon_santa:

AMDave
12-15-2012, 11:52 PM
Tests ok in
Firefox Version 17.0.1
Chromium Version 25.0.1325.0 custom (167608)
Chrome Version 22.0.1229.94

The page is slower to load than expected, but it is a VERY big table and the browser renders progressively as the data arrives from the web server, so it is what it is.

Check for any updates on your browser.
Try loading another very large table
Check your browser is working properly with tests like http://www.cob-net.org/browser.htm

AMDave
12-16-2012, 12:18 AM
Hmm. View-source time-out. I'll look for any bugs in the page. Going to take a while :P

AMDave
12-16-2012, 01:20 AM
Results:
center end-tag is missing - fixable
class IDs are not bound in double-quotes - fixable
Some non-SGML characters in some names may be confusing the browser - should not be the source of any of your issues
