good setup, just too low-end of CPU. maybe just upgrade to quad cores on all boards. over time of course.

not sure about noise :) cases dampen more than i thought possible

This ^

The power usage of the semprons is just too great. Now I have some extra crash though I plan on bringing one of the nodes back up around feb, with a nice quad core in it.
The other nodes wll then slowly be replaced with quads, although that will probably take place next year now.

9600s are really really cheap. not sure what the performance hit is to the TLB issue, though... (i think it only affects OS stability.. and only very very rarely AFAIK)

as far as I know, that TLB error has never been duplicated outside AMD's labs. so if your bios has the "fix" then turn it off if you can.
