justa reminder we will be taking 15th place in 8 days :thumbleft:
we have lost a few members fom SOB including beerknurd, SB2 who were "big hitters".
we had just hit 3 tera tho so we will still hit our target as i preicted we would be constant ish at 2 tera.

looin on the Team Prime Rib website, it has calculated we can take:

Team TNT in 37 days - currently 14th
Russia in 42 days - currently 13th
im not saying we should do this but thought i'd let you all know.

At current rates, I calculate 4 days

that doesnt account for BeOS's productoin though and by the time the site updates itself with our newer production rates it will be decreasing again back to about 2.5ish Tera.
atm it is still high from where SB2 and beer were pushing a few meg each.

TPR site say 11th Oct as pass date. BTW, their stats are wrong, 3 teams in the 1P band should be above us not below.

a word of warning tho LP is catching you lol :P i think they are the pnly real threat to you - but there is a good few teravytes separating you.

jeff is still pushing a lot which is good, really boosting our averages.

Ok guys, my athlon 3000 64 is now online and Sobbing

My stats for SOB are incorrect. They are showing me processing work when I'm not and a fraction of the actual rate when I am. Both of my machines are currently running SOB, the AMD 3000 is over clocked by 15% and running the SSE2 version and the XP 1800+ is at stock speed as the motherboard won't handle any over clocking at any level. It's getting old and ready to be retired.

The sob stats say you're crunching @ 350 steady.

Whats rates do your machines show ??

rrcrain
10-08-2004, 10:13 PM
The 3000 alone shows a steady rate of 687461 cEMs/Sec Oddly, it starts out over 900,000 and drops after a few hours.

The XP 1800 shows 431620 cEMs/Sec constant, both have been at 100% for 24 hours now.

nice ototero, considering i am one place above you its a shame but gd you have upgraded. what was your old sytem that you have put this into, i take it you bought a new mobo aswell ??

Ototero

That's about 1 meg, the stats should be triple what they are now.

Sorry, I don't have an answer.

AMDave

rrcrain, you too ?

last week I had the same sort of thing.
SoB was only showing a fraction of my total output, slower than my slowest machine.

My slowest machine had been running at about 210
(see 1st block in my lifetime stats: http://www.seventeenorbust.com/stats/users/user.mhtml?userID=7659)

Then I added another machine which was faster, but the stats only went up a small amount, like it had been averaged or something (2nd block in my lifetime stats)

Then all of a sudden it all dropped to this awful rate of about 80 to 90.
So I decided there was no bang for buck here and moved back to another project.

To say I'm dissapointed is putting it mildly.

rrcrain
10-08-2004, 10:22 PM
Just rebooted the 3000+ and its now showing approx 920000 cEMs/Sec

Samt thing here. Look at my graph and you will see a massive drop in what they say I am doing.

seems a bit odd,

i had a similar experience last month, i use to process 1 meg a day easy. - in july and august. then i switched to d2ol for a bit in d2ol when i put full force into SOB again now i can get 600 k ish. my machine atm has redicilously high stats compared to normal but isnt afffecting my daily production ??
i think there is some form of error in the stats somewhere. it seems to come and go tho :S

seems a bit odd, i will look on the site later - if there is an e-mail we could mail them asking if they have changed the way production is calculated, showing our examples of the massive drops and ocassional increases in case of beerknurd etc.

rrcrain

It appears their hourls average production graph is doing an overall average rather than show the true hourly average output. My machines have been running nonstop for 48 hours now, and as time passes, the chart as well as the numerics have been rising. Rather than showing a gradual rise, the chart is actually flat lined and rising all together.

To add to the guess that they have an averaging bug, the charts show me having a slowly diminishing output when my machines are taking a break.

Team BeOS have switched some more machines over to SoB
They have rallied with a rate now of 10.963 M cEMs/sec (last day)
We are still catching them at 37.511 M cEMs/sec (last day)

AMDave
10-10-2004, 02:00 AM
Now we're into the weekend, I had a chance to check out my slow SoB problem.
I checked out my intel CPU and it does support SSE2, so I re-installed and now the machine says it is crunching at 720632 cEMs/sec.
The Duron is still grinding along at 225838 cEMs/sec.
Like rrcrain, my stats have started to come up again very slowly.
I agree there seems to be some kind of an overall average happening, at least from some point in the middle of the chart.
But the total Work Done Overall seems to be fine, so I'm going to ignore the chart from now on a just go like blazes. (well as much as I can get out of my little "hobby farm" anyway)

I let my SOB client run for a while yesterday. My GUI said I was running over 2 M. But the site said I was not even at 150 K. Wuz up wit dat???

AMDave

YIPEE KIYAY !

Well it took some testing, but I finally found my hassle.

I have a 10 metre CAT-5 cable that joins 2 of my machines.
Turns out there is a crack in one of the wires inside the cable.
Ripped the waste of space out & threw it in the bin.
Moved the PC over & plugged it in using my spare 2 metre cable & the flaming thing DUMPed.
I just jumped up a couple of positions in SoB.

This would also explain some of the intermittent problems that I have been having like getting my linux box to talk to the rest of the network etc....
How much time have I wasted on that !! ??

rrcrain,
if you are running cable between your machines may I recommend that you get them tested.

Ototero

Why on earth didn't you ask before.

Aw Geez, Stuart.
U waz buzy wid dem stats N that :P
LOL, great job by the way. What did we do without them ?

Beer,

I wouldn't worry about the individual "rates" being shown on the SoB charts. Since the new client was launched (approx 3rd-Oct) there seems to be some kind of time-based-averaging going on. I have no idea what it is, just that some people appear to be rated lower than they what they are actually producing.

Why I wouldn't worry about it is that the Total production seems to increment fine. It's just that the "Last Day" rate seems to be out of whack.
It seems to occur mostly if you stop for a while & re-start, or in my case you're a modem user and uploads are intermittent. I was getting cheezed off with it until I noticed that the Total figure seemed to still be showing the right amount after I posted my results.

Empty_5oul
10-11-2004, 12:42 PM
last day seems to be what you did in last hour or so, when you take a machine and and dont produce for maybe an inch the stats decrease. maybe some day we will understand what they actually mean lol :P

Beerknurd
10-12-2004, 01:32 AM
I doubt it. I'm trying to catch up to Chaz in Lifemapper. Just 689 more days!!!

rrcrain
10-12-2004, 03:08 AM
Somehow, the daily chart is tied into the work unit. One machine justcompleted its assigned work unit and the chart now shows me doing over 1200 a day.

Beerknurd
10-12-2004, 03:21 AM
you must have the submit intermidiate results box unchecked. Is this better than having it checked? It's gotta be faster because it doesn't have to submit as much info. But I guess the credit is the same. It just doesn't show your running it until you complete the entire test.

i would say thats good but let it upload say every 100, 500 it processes as some people have problems with it creating and then finding a checkpoint - so ti starts form scratch.

the 8 days i said it would take to catch BeOS is nearly up (on the 16th) we now have onlt 4 Terabyte to process, beerknurd if you could do SOB for just a day it would be much apprechiated so we cans ecure our new position :thumbleft:

rrcrain
10-12-2004, 10:18 AM
No, checked that and it's set to intermittently upload the results. I'm on broadband so there's no reason not to do that.

good good, we should hit it pretty soon.
we are outdoing them by at least 1.5 Terabyte per day so its all good. we will soon be clear and we can decide what to do.

i did say by the 16th and we are still on target for that though BeOS are putting up a fight :(
