These pics are linked to the ones in the stats pages, so they will update as I update the stats.

Be sure to check out the link on the bottom of the pages if you wish to see the really large detailed stats for every host.
PS: I joined the 2-core and 1-core hosts on a single detailed stats page.

Seems mitchell and Ramjet had a really good start :)

Ramjet

Not such a good start in the dual core, I noticed tonight I was still booted in the old OS to run out my WCG cache, hence I was running the wrong Host ID. I guess that's how you can tell when alzheimers has set in. :eusa_wall:

didn't mitchel start with ~4000 points before the contest start?

edit: admittedly, i started with either 44 or 47 points ;)

awesome start there mitchel, if this goes on we should stop rosetta and start the second project.......
maybe we stand a chance with one week´s work to dump :icon_mrgreen:....

nice stats neogen, i like them......
allthough some numbers seem to be messed up (exel wise it seems to me)
greetings vel..

Mitchell has an incredible 1:2 ratio between claimed credit and granted credit. His WUs are priced high in the cobblestone market. :)

just curious:
who is host 14 and 15 in the 4-core stats??
or are they just placeholders??

vel.

NeoGen
05-19-2009, 09:07 AM
It's just placeholders. The 2-core stats page (and 1-core too because I merged both in one) has some too. I have the worksheet ready for up to 15 hosts in parallel. :)

This is a stats tool that happens to apply well for contest. I've used it for analyzing some projects already, so I needed to have a good number of hosts side-by-side for comparisons.

Hi Vel,

thanks! :icon_wink:

":5eek: wow, what is mitchellds doing to his cpu´s that they work like the devil himself is after them???"

Just converting a lot of electricity into heat. The devil likes it real hot you know :icon_twisted:. I had to shut down several other droids, as my circuit breakers keep popping. :(

Awesome job with the stats Neo !!

I did notice that for some reason I'm not getting any 64 bit wu's, neither is Jason, and we're running the same x64 bit IX OS and level. Interesting.

Racing on......

Did a mid day stats update. :)

PcManiac, two of your hosts don't seem to be running. I have no result from them yet.

In that case I'm sure you're getting all 64bit WUs. The thing is that the data collector here can't figure out what you guys have, there's no clue if it's 32 or 64 bits by analyzing the tasks, or the OS name. So it defaults to show them as 32 bit. :icon_wink:

thats a little better, I was feeling small after the first stat run.
only connecting at night(due to bandwidth limitations) makes it a bit unbalancing day to day.

05-19-2009, 02:42 PM
NeoGen,

what time of day are you generally going to do updates? If we want to upload a cache of completed wu's to show results for in a given update, how long before do they need to be on the rosetta server so you can see the results with your stats?

I guess your getting a XML file from Rosetta at some set time that your info is based on, or is it a on the fly query to the rosetta server to gain that info so you can do a update whenever your ready?

More importantly, what is the deadline at the close of the race for turning in results to be counted?

Another interesting observation to note. Just where has Vaughan gone? He has a motherload of Wu's issued to him that he's crewing on, and not reported results on. I think he's submerged, and listening to the chatter, and will surface at some point and torpedo us all with completed wu's. He is running a bad ass sub, so keep a watch out for fish in the water. :icon_wink:

thanks again for all of your race work Neo !! :)

NeoGen

I'm doing the updates once a day or twice if I can, near noon and midnight here (UTC+1), as it takes between 1 and 2 hours for the data collector to go through all the WUs of all the hosts.
For the WUs to be shown in the page and fetched by me, I'd say they might have to be delivered to rosetta maybe an hour before, the page refresh is probably not instantaneous.

I'm not using the XML, it's an on-the-fly query to the tasks themselves, anytime I want. It takes quite a bit because it takes hundreds of hits on the rosetta site to fetch info on every task that goes by your hosts. But once I got it all I can pretty much analyze it in every way possible. :)

The deadline on each race is the end of saturday, the 6th day. The WUs must be delivered at most at 11:59:59 pm of Saturday (UTC). The timestamp is applied on the WUs at arrival to the server ("Time reported or deadline" on the tasks pages).
I'm taking into account that the server might be busy and not refresh the tasks pages right at the second, so I'll only make the final data fetch a few hours later just to be sure. And on Sunday the final race stats will be presented.

so how will points accumulated before the contest start (the 18th midnight GMT start) factor in?

NeoGen
05-20-2009, 01:31 AM
I picked up WUs sent by the server up to 12 hours before the start time. These 12 hours was the cache reloading time frame that suited best for all parts of the globe without creating too much of a caching effect for the contest. All workunits crunched before that were discarded. (so, no credits for it)

Next race will be the same way... 12 hours of cache reload time, everything earlier than that is discarded, and then the race is on.

And stats updated. :)

Mitchell and Jason are having quite a race on the 4-cores... Mitchell gained the lead with a great start but Jason doesn't seem to be willing to let go the 1st place without a fight.

It's the Intel i7 vs Phenom II battle. :icon_twisted:

My Q6600 (even OC'd) is nothing compared to the Phenom and i7s. :-(

Cheer up, the Phenoms and i7s are most likely being OC'd too. :icon_wink:
And it may depend on the project as well, Rosetta gives credit in different orders of magnitude to single-cores, dual-cores and quad-cores from what we're seeing. So we'll run several projects to see how it goes in all of them.

And you know, I have nothing on the rules saying that you can't change host during the contest. :icon_wink:
If you guys get your hands on a brand new Phenom II or i7, as long as the cores number is right (hyperthreading off on i7) it's good to go. Just give me the host ID before the next race and it will be there. :)

Except I didn't go too far OC'ing since Rosetta gave me errors when I went from 2.4GHz -> 2.8 GHz. I'm assuming Rosetta can be quite sensitive when it comes to OCs.

I'm also on stock heatsink/fan and the temperature around here is on the rise so that doesn't help. :icon_mad:

I find the credit Rosetta gives quite bizarre. I'm doing 4 hour WUs now, and I'm being granted less credit than I claim now! Just yesterday I was claiming 80-90 credits, and being granted 100+. Today I claim the same amount, but granted less.

Oh well, I guess I'll see how I'll perform next race. This race is concluding tomorrow. :icon_razz:

I believe you are crunching with the 64bit applications, because your host reports "Windows 7 x64 Edition"

The workunits files are the same for all hosts, but the application that crunches them can make the difference. Some projects are favorable for 64bit hosts (Primegrid for example) and give more credits per WU to those because the applications are optimized for 64bit, and thus crunch more.

I'm running my Q6600 from an Intel OEM motherboard with no options to overclock the CPU or RAM :(. I installed the x64 version of Windows 7 RC, so I might have received a slight boost, but it's nowhere near being able to bump up the CPU by many hundreds of MHz. Maybe I need to look into investing in the Powerball lottery! :)

same for me but i have a AMD 64X2 5600+ and OEM-board without any option.
I disabled the most stuff and top says that nearly only rosetta is running. There is no more optimisation for me.

It's too bad BOINC doesn't report units as soon as it's uploaded. Had to force update just now since I was away for a bit but it's 15 minutes too late. :(
