Hi all, Does anyone have any experience with windows 7 beta yet ?? I was looking to see if anyone has used the beta to " upgrade " their vista install and if it was successful ? It says it will upgrade and leave your compatible programs intact and I guess usable . ie your e-mail program and keeping your e-mails intact.I installed it into a spare drive while that was the only drive plugged in to the mb,keeping my main drive and vista intact... I do like what I saw but I have not had much time to play with it yet.
Anyone care to comment ?

I've only done clean installs, no upgrade installs. One machine had incompatibilities with Internet Explorer 8 and webmail such that I was unable to login to retrieve my e-mail. It also had a problem with File Permissions using Office XP, I had modified previously used files and saved the changes to a new filename. Then when I tried to open the newly saved file again I was locked out because I didn't have permission! (to open my own file).
That machine got reverted to XP 64 and IE7 with Office XP.

I tried to install Win 7 RC as a dual boot with XP but the install went to a BSOD, and every reboot would attempt to finish the install, and again result in a blue screen. :BangHead: I ended up having to dwnld a program to edit the boot loader and remove Winblows7 to regain function of XP. Kind of a nightmare for me. Some day if I get brave enough I may attempt it on a different system, or just drop it in the trash and let someone else work the bugs out. Maybe SP5 or 6 will be out in a couple years. :dontknow:

I installed the rtm a few weeks ago for a LAN-party. The good thing was that folding@home looked good. The bads are that win7 has overwritten my grub2 and I had to install grub1 (grub2 can't handle win) and CS took sometimes 5minutes to start.
It's like Win XP. A relative good M$ OS. It did the job I installed it for and some other stuff.

That's put me right off W7. I'm staying with XP until 2014.

0 issues here installing fresh. even swapping motherboards around.
previously, it was a slight bit of a pain with Vista switching between nvidia and amd mobos (stupid "math coprocessor" driver not loaded...)
