The calendar has rolled around once again and we have arrived at Software Freedom Day 2009

If you have not tried Free and Open Source Software and think you might like to take a look before jumping in, hop over to the SFD site and find a local SFD meeting that may be being held near you.

If there is not one near you, and you think you can set one up, then get right into it and invite a few people along. Pass a note tio the local radio station and you might even get mentioned on-air.

Today I celebrated SFD-2009 (http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/) by removing another piece of non-free software, updating my FOSS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_open_source_software) OS from a free mirror (http://people.canonical.com/%7Ecjwatson/mirror/list.html) provided by my ISP which they gratiously exclude from my download quota, downloaded a free album from Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com) in Ogg Vorbis format (OGG) (http://www.vorbis.com/) that was published under the Creative Commons (http://creativecommons.org/) and listened to it in Rhythmbox (http://projects.gnome.org/rhythmbox/) on my Ubuntu desktop (http://www.ubuntu.com/) while writing some new lines of code for an open web project using jEdit (http://www.jedit.org/) and Epiphany (http://projects.gnome.org/epiphany/)

It's that easy.

Happy SFD everyone.

That's a very good initiative, but I don't think I can do any of that this year :icon_razz: maybe next year :icon_wink:
