Isn't it amazing how every time we start a new thread welcoming someone, they rarely ever post in it.

Oh well here goes nothing....

Welcome promopgsa!!!!!!!

That used to happen to me alot. Then I started using Firefox and that stopped. The only way that happens is if you clear out your temp internet files and cookies.

yep, usually on a friday night i run AVG, ad-aware, spybot and a reg program. then nothinig remembers me - only the pages that store my details on their server space not on im own files.

since last week i had 5 trojans on my HD when i ran AVG this time. it is worth doing, if you get something big off it then your performance can increase especially if they are claiming cpu cycles and wasting memory usage.

Is there any freeware/shareware programs the will detect spyware??

Or at least scan your HD for garbage....

spyobt and adaware as it stats in the name, get rid of all WARE and spybot more browser things and monor stuff, no massive corrupting viruses but keeps the system clean.

i would say try AVG, its like norton but much better and is frequently updated. i have never had any problems and it has picked up many viruses and instructed me how to lose them while norton said it was there but couldnt do anything - y tell me that, might as well say nothing is there lol :P

is it free???

yep all 3 of them are free.

this is AVG free: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
otherwise do the try full version as i did and crack it, there are few differences. you get same protection updates etc but full is a nicer layout and slightly quicker to use.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ - adaware. if you want spybot just search for that under google.

they are worth having especially if you use internet a lot of the time and are uploading/downloading many files.

you will probably fins quite a lot of stuff depending what you have been using your comp for. especially if searching on google for stuff like cracks, MP3's etc etc.
through adaware i have got rid of about 2,500 files so far that were data miners.

adaware found 54 things.... spybot found like 5 or 6 things. How often do you run it. I think you said before like once a week??? Is that right??

Yeah, I do mine once a week, don't forget to update each product from the web.

yep - ish. depending what you have done on your computer. i open it quite often and do an update then run it after an update as it searches fro new things. if i have not been surfing much etc you dnt need to run it that often but it does keep your pc clean.

spybot is great at getting rid of IE toolbars that are unwanted - i think you said you use firefox tho so it shouldnt affect you.

I may run it every couple of weeks... That should be fine.

yep, sounds good. its worth creating a recovery/boot disk aswell. there is an option for this somewhere in AVG then if it all goes wrong you have something so you can at least boot the system.
