Hey guys
Does anyone know what happened to Frappr.com?
I know it was acquired some years ago by some other company, but it kept on running. But now the site seems to be down for sometime already, I have been trying to check our map (http://www.frappr.com/wwwamduserscom) there with no success. The site always times out.
Maybe we need to create a new AMD Users map on another website?

I think Frappr has really gone belly up. :-(
That's a real shame... we had a good number of dots all over the globe in that map... If we had had some warning I would have taken a screenshot for memory sake.
Well... anyone knows alternatives? Does Facebook have a map plugin maybe? I'm not in Facebook, but there is an AMD Users Facebook Group page (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=164304406792).

I'm not a fan of facebook and haven't looked at anything they offer. Just not into it.

Platial took over Frappr then collapsed taking Frappr with it:

I thought that was speculation at the time.
I checked our map (I was the admin) and it was still up.
I checked it again just a couple of weeks ago and it was still there (not a lot of activity though)
Unfortunately it seems that Platial's bills have gone unpaid and the providers have finally pulled the plugs.
I suspect they could have released Frappr! for sale/custodianship and maybe even cleared themselves of encumbrances.
Adding a brick onto the wall requires that you first have a stable foundation beneath upon which to place the next layer of bricks.
This has clearly not been the case.
The entity that was Frappr! surely still exists on some backups somewhere, but whether it is sale-able and worthwhile to resurrect will be told in time.
Got any ideas?

A$$ Covering mode:
"Unfortunately it seems that Platial's bills have gone unpaid and the providers have finally pulled the plugs." is an assumption/aspersion.
The article does not say that.
It was implied by something else I read.
The original reference to the bankruptcy filing is lost, so I cannot support it.
The confirmation of the shutdown is here, for the time being.

Basically they abandoned it.

It was shut down, [in part] purportedly, due to underage dating as well as pre-teen girls offering to sell nude photos of themselves, as well as asking men to come & "meet with with them", for the reason of prostitution & other deviate sexual matters....

that should have been fairly easy for them to stamp out.
